Pathfinder: Kingmaker

The 2 weapon fighting finesse has been fixed but I've not played yet. Seemed okay to me but my missus picked up on it as she likes playing rogues

So far as long as you are flanking with another, then your sneak damage really helps. Averaging approx 40pts per hit at level 12 and Nok Nok is doing similar.
The main reason for the build though was locks and traps, I let the other party members do the damage.

So thought I'd give 1.09 a look before I take a break just to see if they had fixed the glaring bugs to the main line quest......... Nope, back to a save losing another good 15/20 hours of play and Pitax is still totally broken and to add insult to injury on the new map area for your upgraded capital they have completely broken the trader Hassuf so you can't interact with him and progress the Stolen Throne quest line (also means you can't buy Build Points either ), I really am taking a break now :(

I get the feeling the devs are way over their head here and havn't got a clue how to fix stuff that is fundamentally broken without breaking other things, very sad because underneath there is a cracking game there but it is so flawed as to be pointless expending effort and time on it for no reward for that effort.

That sucks!

I've had a couple of crashes, and one annoying bug which was resolved with a reboot, but nothing game-breaking so far. The fact the devs are still working to fix issues speaks volumes to me. They seem genuinely interested in resolving complaints - so you might want to report it if you haven't already.

I went healer/buffer for my main - didn't want to entrust it to anyone else!

I think Restoration inc Lesser was fixed as well.

Anyone know if can you interact with Hassuf if you start the game again?
Will give it a few hours to tonight and see what I can do

I've logged everything I've found. I can see the devs really care and want to try and fix it but they just seem overwhelmed by how much is breaking now that it's publicly released (I won't call it out of beta yet..... ;) :p)

As far as I've been reading no, whilst you have the wooden capital map all is ok but once you have the stone capital map his scripts are broken. Oddly, although seemingly a large majority are suffering it, not everyone has the problem and some theorise as to whether the presence of animal companions in the party history has done something. Another bug people are reporting (if you're lucky enough ;)) is that after you have the upgraded Capital map that if you enter your capital from the world map you get the old wooden capital until you enter then exit your hall, in the old map Hassuf is still interactable so you can work around it that way, I wasn't lucky enough to have that bug :(.

I started again (4th time now :D) and am playing a monk. I have taken 1 level in rogue to give me weapon finesse and sneak attack. It is quite fun although the lack of armor when you actually get hit really does show.

The unchained monk in our game is pretty good (despite having to be resurrected as he's reckless).
We are at 20th level and he admits he could have built it much better but using ki to enhance his AC really helps.

The game could do with more prestige classes, would like to build my rogue/shadow dancer.

Finally finished the dungeon at the end of Varnhold Vanishing last night. Crikey - that was tough! My first mistake was not having enough rations for a dungeon of that size, because there was a lot of preparatory buffing required to get passed several of the encounters. I did one little thing which made three daemons appear as soon as I clicked something - that went straight to loading an old game - I had no Death Wards left!

I still have loads of Varnhold left to investigate. Does anyone know if there are any downsides to spending a while exploring Varnhold before I move onto the next section (which I've already started, I think!).

Just so shame they don't feature in the game.
Keep thinking about restarting but can't think what class to be.

It'd be good if they could add them with DLC at some point :)

I think the biggest downside is timers for events, if you don't get back in your territory to action events that require advisor assignment or back to the throne room for visitor events you can be left in a whole world of hurt ;)

Well 1.0.10 still hasn't properly fixed Pitax, the throne room scene following the defeat of Iroveti fires correctly and exiting the palace causes the warning about the riot at the Academy but once you are teleported to the academy map it all breaks again as the map is totally empty with nothing to interact with

Hotfix 1.0.11 released. It still doesn't fix the Academy in Pitax as the devs have stated their first attempts have failed , The Hassuf problem was related to alignment and was an issue for Neutral Good characters apparently and is now working correctly.

They're currently up to Hotfix 1.0.14 which will allegedly be one of the last short cycle hotfix releases while the QA full patch 1.1

I've started to see this referred in various forums now as Patchfinder: Kingmaker :D

I have finally worked my way to the end and I have to say the balance in the final part of the game is way way way off.

Also the puzzles in the House at the Edge of Time are unintuitive and tenuous and don't bother working on any party progression through the game with favoured characters to create synergy and to balance your party because the devs rip all that away from you and dump you in the deep end leaving you very little choices

I'm in no rush to replay this, it's very definitely an extremely rough and uncut diamond that I will have to revisit in a year or so to see if they have fixed the glaring balance issues and vaguely tacked on and mostly awkward Kingdom Management elements. I really hope it matures into something special because the devs are working like blazes to fix stuff and it is full of character.

Just got to the point of opening up Pitax. So far I'm enjoying it but it could do with warnings on time limits as I do one of the 2 week events with an advisor and then lose my kingdom as I haven't noticed something or been aware there was a time limit on it.
Jaethal's companion quest is an example of this, I didn't even get to start the quest due to the unknown time restriction.

I should have researched the party characters before starting as half the bases are covered and I wouldn't have created a rogue. Paladin, Monk or Sorcerer next time i think.

My Kingdom was destroyed, and I got miffed so I restarted with a planned Halfling Knife-Fighter/Monk/Fighter who will eventually be a front-line fighter for the group with constant Flurry of Blows, sneak damage and insane armour class even without any armour.

I'm thinking I might replace the rest of the group with manual made characters as the pregenned characters are not as optimised as my min-max heart would like. Then I might push the difficulty up a little just to see if I know Pathfinder as well as I think I do! I just need the money to replace them as I'm only level 2 :D

Just a big BIG warning about that................ The ending, I can't say any more than that without spoiling but I would definitely advise taking manual control of all pre-gens character development and try to create multiple synergies across various group members and use them all so you can adapt to them in the party, don't neglect remove/curative/restore spells ;)
