What do you expect as a pay rise this year?

As things are looking I don't think I'll be getting any pay increase this year above the small increase we had near the start of the year. Though so far this year I've seemed to pick up a lot of extra/premium rated shifts so so far not doing too badly year on year pay wise.

Well I did my self assessment and I'm 1800 in credit with HMRC. So I guess that counts right? :D

On top of this my new tax code is 1693L so that's another tiny bonus right? :D

I don't work in a sector that pays overtime at my level nor do I get a bonus (though technically it's 17% capped at 20k - but public sector, bonus? Yeah right! )

But not bothered about bonuses really. I'm happy to get paid for doing my job as that's what I'm employed to do. Were I in sales then that would be different.

Is 1693 returning the credit to you?

I run a company so it’s not exactly a pay rise, but I’m paying myself just over 20% more this year in dividends.

You have lied to HMRC, which is a criminal offense and posted it on a public forum.

Not a clever clog are you?

You have absolutely no ideas about his tax or financial affairs. So no point in being so absolute in your condemnation as your making huge assumptions based on little facts. Just like most of your posts with regards to finances and money.

I declare to HMRC what my adjusted net income is planned to be. At the moment, its Month 2 of 12, and I won't have sight of my bonus till month 8 - so it's anyone's guess how much I'll make this tax year. I'll go conservative with the idea I'll owe them; much like anyone else who is a professional OCUK poster. If it exceeds 3k debt I think they ask for a debit card payment. If it's below 3k they'll let you pay back via tax code.

It's like credit, so you probably wouldn't get it.

Ah yeah, i don't know my debits from my credits.
My bad.. you're off the hook

Actually, if you take a step back and look at it, it's not a bad way to get a 0% loan for a small amount.

It's tax you would have paid but simply deferred it and pay it back over the subsequent year without interest.... Definitely better than any loan just now.

You may not agree with it but that doesn't mean it's not financially smart for his particular circumstances even if it doesn't fit your, pretty rigid, opinion.

Everyone is different, but that doesn't mean they are wrong.

Edit - how would you "borrow" circa £3k with no interest to be paid back?
