Paypal Chargeback - Advice

I may report the stickers as stolen then but then again i wouldnt want to waste police time, money etc.

Why would you be wasting police time? They've not been stolen per say but rather someone has tried to defraud you.

If a kid was caught stealing £12 worth of sweets in your local corner shop the police might well be called too.

PayPal always sides with the buyer.

No they don't.

Outside of ebay transactions, I didn't think paypal had much comeback with regards to siding with the buyer (iirc most of the protection is via ebay's resolution centre and it's integration with paypal)

Ive claimed lots back successfully via paypal with nothing to do with Ebay.

However, they arent as bad as Ebay and do listen to both sides.

They aren't the same company any more so PayPal protection is completely separate from eBay, although you still can't use both when dealing with eBay issues.

I've found PayPal to be better to deal with also, especially in situations that aren't clean cut, requiring evidence, etc.

Hi mate, why would i send something recorded delivery thats £12? its a sticker.
I can see your point but id have to charge more to my customer?

If i clearly show that the guys sent me a screenshot of his payment to me, a clear pic of the package and then a clear picture of the product on his car...common sense should prevail?

I know what you mean though, but this is absurd how little runts can get away with this when all it takes is common sense...if anything he shouldnt have a leg to stand on with that evidence at my disposal

If you want the seller protection from Paypal then you have to follow the procedures in place in order to qualify for it. Recorded delivery (or some form of proof of postage) is one of those requirements.

While I don't think it would have solved all your problems, you wouldn't have been left wide open like you are now.

I hope Paypal do rule in your favour but I really think you should charge your customers an extra 70p to cover the recorded postage. It will help you from being £12 out of profit and having to sell x amount of units to make it up.

did you just stick a stamp on it and put it in the post box or did you go to a post office and at least get a receipt as proof of postage?

A receipt is not proof of postage. It has to be recorded so a signature confirms delivery at the other end.

Recorded delivery isn't the answer unless the item is too large to go through the letter box. Over half my letters I send requiring a signature are not signed for.

thats a separate issue. RM should be collecting a signature as contracted, not doing so leaves them open to loss claims.

If I really must get a signature (buyer seems dodgey) I have in the past strapped the item to a 14" square piece of card. :o

Thing is if you paid for a signature on delivery and the post office was too lazy to get one you can then claim for none delivery in this case and get compensation up to £50 as the Post Office can't prove they delivered it.

In fact checking the website, if you have proof of posting you have £20 of insurance anyway. Proof of posting is free.

Afternoon Brad. Are you there? Im going to give you another day then il be deciding what action to take. Im not sure how your Paypal has fauled mate but if youre trying a fast one, just be honest. If there is a problem then be a gentleman and tell me as, its clear as day i can see the product i sold you on your car...?!

Response within minutes

Yeah i have received, there has been fraud on my account so, they have requested charge backs on my account...just had to send my ID and statement proof to say it was me...someone has been using my Paypal, so trying to figure it out but all chargebacks will be going back to normal soon.

My response

Ok think you need to go back into that chargeback and cancel it
Fraud on your account isnt good. Mind why would they tray and chargeback items from June?

His response:

I cant do anything as my account has been suspended until they lift that there is no fraud on my account

My response:

Ok probably best to call them then dont you think?

His response:

Already called them mate, I have sent all my stuff like they asked?!
Just said this to you...but im back in work now so aint got time, going to ring them back to speed up getting all of the charge backs cancelled?

Oh this is going to be fun me thinks

The most annoying thing is, its painfully obvious he's lying.

Unfortunately it is....but the way i look at it is this....i have all the ammo i believe i need each and every time i liaise with him.

I have 3 days of dialogue...another 7 days before i need to respond to it...so il keep on and on until the last day and then....he wont have an option...either way it will work out i hope.

Ive googled his house on google maps...i know that area if i need to go the 130 miles he wont like it. Little freckle

It will cost you more than £12 to travel all that way and back, but I guess there comes a time where principles outweigh the cost.

Don't. It is a waste of time and money. Plus it could work against you.

Tbh i said that in jest...i will say i have business up nearby for the remainder of the week and so il pop in....no worries...see the little freckle squirm for a few days.

Well you got his address, and you know he lives at home, if he doesn't play ball just send a nice letter in post to his parents Mr and Mrs [SURNAME], included copies of everything you have and sure if his parents are respectable with have a thing or two to say :)

what the sticker?

Enter all the details you have into the dispute on PayPal and then give them a call, i've had some success with this route in the past :)

if you do lose and paypal refund him though i doubt they will, just open a moneyclaim dispute and take him to court. it'll cost you £25 to do but you'll get that back when you win the case :D
