PayPal dispute help

Nest hello connects to WiFi and gets it timestamp from the internet.

It's not easy to fake the time as it's cloud recording. I'm sure a judge or normal person would understand it to be accurate

Yeah I've just went into the app and there's no option for me to edit the time.

So the timestamp is completely controlled by the cloud. Therefore you can pretty much guarantee its 100% accurate.

Fair enough, I guess if it's a cloud based one it might be different (I'm sure there are ways around it, but probably beyond the capabilities of a non-techy :p)

I'm not a lawyer, but is that not fraud? Go to the police, it's amazing how these things can change in your favour when you get the police involved.

File a fraud claim with the police.

Get the police involved then things should move a little faster, purchase a door camera, some great ones on Amazon with long battery life if you didn't want to go the wires route.

Bets on how long it takes for the old "this is a civil matter, not a police one" line to be rolled out? I don't think many forces would even take the report.

Have you asked around your neighbourhood to see if anyone has any CCTV? I had a paypal claim last year where a delivery was supposedly made at a certain time, thankfully my neighbour had CCTV to prove that nothing was delivered and they lied.

but how is the court (if it gets that far) going to know that you didn't just change the timestamp on the camera and give them footage of a delivery not turning up from another time?

For a small claims court it's done on the balance of probabilities. It would be more probable that the delivery never turned up rather than someone manipulating time on a camera.

It's also why a lot of delivery companies now take pictures of the front door to prove they were at the address.

So it'd fine for some not to deliver £500 worth of goods, but if I steal your £500 garden set from your garden it's a different matter. Both seem the same to me, theft.

Why would they not? They were very interested when I went to the police to report someone from the MM here who never sent something I paid for. One call from the police to the seller and I had a refund in my account within days.

I purchased some patio furniture on eBay from a seller using PayPal credit. These goods never arrived and the company provided us with a falsified signature on a delivery note which was just a meaningless scribble noteven close to a true signature. I was sat within earshot of the door all day and nobody came.

Let me guess, Hermes? Had the same thing happened to me except it was Amazon rather than eBay, as it was amazon they sent a replacement after umpteen conversations over the phone including one from the US judging by the accent. If it was ebay I'd probably have been told to take a hike...

but yeah i wouldn't buy anything expensive from ebay not that thats much help to you help now.

You don't have to guess.

Premier Deliveries.

It's a sister company of the company I purchased the goods from. Every time I ring them I get knocked back with unhelpful staff who refuse to connect me to a manager and promise a call back that never happens, if you persist they just hang up the call.

Depends what was "not" delivered surely?

"No judge, DPD didn't deliver my Rtx 3090, here's 24 hours of cctv which definitely covers the correct period, please can I have my £1800 back?"

Thanks for the replies.

I managed to talk to someone at PayPal and explained how the delivery company and seller are effectively the same company trading out of the same premises, they've reopened the dispute but I'm not feeling optimistic.

My GF spoke to citizens advice who have advised us of the some steps we can take before we opt to take it to small claims should it come to that, really hope it doesn't as I could do without that kind of hassle at the moment.

Keep that gucci belt on you at all times!

I thought about a doorbell cam. But not if its 200!

Spend £350k on a house. Refuse to pay £200 to help secure it and make your life easier.

It's a bit like the guy who spends £200 on a wallet but doesn't have a single penny in it. Just to show people he has an expensive wallet.

£200 is literally pennies for the ease of mind it brings. It's probably saved me £200 in petrol since I got it as I tell the guy the safe place to put the parcel rather than take it back to the depot for me to collect the following day.
