Paypal dispute

It was probably liteon and not benq thats why he was annoyed and wants a refund.

I hope it still has the warranty sticker in tact.

If it genuinelly was faulty when he opened the box it's hardly his fault.

But normally when you buy some thing from bay and you receive your item first thing you do is check it straight away so i doubt very much that he waited 8 days just to switch on the xbox360.

He's clearly bricked the drive attempting a flash, hence the hassle for a BenQ. Is the console still under the MS warranty? Might have missed you saying so.

Console was brand new and wasn't registered with microsoft and still had a 2 and half year warranty with microsoft for 3 red lights.

I doubt he bricked the drive as it's a 360 Arcade so most likely got a liteon drive - Did it have HDMI?

+ Wouldn't get RROD for a bad flash.

Sucks for sellers though, he could now send anything back recorded (a box of confetti) and would get away with it.

No it was benq dvd drive mfr date way early 2008 and lite-on appeared in april 2008.All i can hope that i get my item back with 3 red lights and seal still intact so i can send it to microsoft.

If not turn it on and wrap it in a towel, that'll give you your lights :p.

You were stupid to use Paypal. He'll have messed up your console and Paypal will find in his favour.

Chalk it up to experience, and use a proper payment method in the future.

makes no diff what drive was in it, as it is still poss to brick a drive when flashing.

makre sure when you get it back, its the same, serial no etc - also check for any tampering to the stickers

both the sticker that has the serial no (could have taken it from a broken 360 and put it on yours) - warrently sticker behind the front cover, check that hasnt been heat removed then reapplied etc.

Best thing to do is transfer the pp funds to your bank imediatly, then remove the cards, direct debit. Play them at their own game. They cannot remove money from your bank without your permission. I did all this, and they threatned to send debt collectors for over £200 that i owed them. 3 years later and still no debt collectors at my door. im not saying im a scammer, but i was blatantly being scammed at the time. Painpal is great for buying stuff, but never ever use it to sell on ebay!

It's not possible to "brick" a liteon drive unless you physically break it as it is unflashable.

My brother has a liteon drive from early 08 I thought, oh well.

He hasn't got the money yet, due to the new scammer protection system paypal are holding the funds.

I can do all this but still i don't think that will make any difference to paypal.I have lost my faith completely with paypal.

Thing is, even if he did send it back with all the seals broken and bits missing, painpal are still gonna refund him so you STILL lose out. Painpal is such a bad system and a complete JOKE! Get the buyer to send it royal snail special delivery so it's covered upto £2500 if it gets broken in post, normal recorded signed for only covers upto 30 odd quid! Also open the box and check to see if it's all there BEFORE you sign for it, and dont let the neighbours sign for it because that happens a lot. Not that all this is going to make much difference, because as far as painpal are concerned, the buyer has returned the item so he is due a refund.

This. Bar a miracle, you will lose the money and end up with a 360 someone has broken.

If you *must* use Paypal, then do as suggested and take the money out straight away, and cancel cards. That way the idiot at the other end won't win as Paypal will investigate properly (they only don't care because they're not losing money out of it).

I love these threads, they remind me to never, ever, sell/buy on the bay. Too many people out there looking for a way to make money out of nothing and scam honest people.
