hi guys i just got an email from paypal saying that my bank transaction was declined by my bank

but when i log in to paypal it says the transaction has completed

i dont know if its a scam or something but this is the email address

[email protected]

but all emails i get from paypal are usually from service@paypal.co.uk

should i contact paypal and my bank anyway or should i not worry about it?

thanks

Sounds ok if you did actually make a bank transaction. If you need to chase it up then email them directly rather than clicking on, or replying to anything in the email you received.

Ignore anything in the email and go by what your account page says.

Certainly don't use any links on the email to log in.

It happens when the direct debit has declined. Mine has done this before, and paypal automatically uses your backup funding, making zero errors on your account.

Did you click any links in the email? Be warned, looks like your bog standard fishing attempt.

I'd say it's definitely a fake; "Ping request could not find host info.paypal.co.uk. Please check the name and try again". It seems a bit dodgy anyway.

its [email protected]

could you check that for me??

That e-mail address would belong to info.paypal.co.uk, and that would belong to paypal.co.uk. However, there are no DNS records for info.paypal.co.uk, so that would indicate to me that it doesn't exist, and it's just a scam. But I've just Googled this address and some people are saying it's genuine, and some have even said that Paypal have told them that it is genuine

hmmmm

ive just got off the phone from paypal and they assured me that they dont send emails from that address and certainly dont put links asking for your credit card or to add funds either like the picture above at the start of this thread. Also they say they have no record of my bank declining anything

still im a little worried

EDIT

also i called my bank and they say that they cant stop payments going from paypal to my bank account since its not direct debit.

but they can stop money going from my bank to paypal. which isnt the case here as im transfering money to my bank

Well at least we know the address is not genuine; I haven't a clue why some people (following a Google search), said that the e-mail address was genuine. Perhaps it was by sheer coincidence that they sent you the scam e-mail at the same time you transferred the funds, but it seems unlikely. Tried running an anti-virus and malware scan?
