Pc build / full system advice

Thanks I tried that but the programme called catalyst does not install properly. I can't seem to find a fix. The motherboard says the pci slot is empty. Could that be something to do with it? The card fans are running so it must be drawing power.

FYI When I try to get catalyst to install I get the following error message:

Can you upload a picture of your system so we can confirm everything looks right? Presumably the GPU fans would spin as long as the PCI-E cables are attached - it doesn't mean the card is in the PCI-E slot properly.

Hi Fulax,

See image

I managed to get catalyst to install however no drivers can be installed from it! *Sorry the image was sideways corrected.

Do you realise you only have one of the PCI-E connectors in? You need both the 8-pin and the 6-pin.

Hi yes, but when I put both in the system fails to show an image on my monitor when connected to the gpu or motherboard

Its a super flower goldengreen 750w. When Both are connected it is via separate cables from the psu. The system is on but there is no image on my monitor (asus pro art)

Hi,

Right when I only have one PCI express lead pluged in (8pin) the screen shows an image by connecting to the motherboard (either DVI, HDMI etc).

If both the six pin and eight pin are connect the ports do not work on either the gpu or motherboard.

Could it be the intel graphics drivers? do I need to uninstall those? if so how?

Apologies for my lack of knowledge, hopefully it is something simple. I have never done this before and thought it would be more straight forward!

when you plug in both the 6 and 8 pin power to the gpu and the gpu output (not motherboard) to the monitor, do you see something at the POST screen?

oh i forgot to add, your bios settings are correct right?
ie: pci express enabled, discrete gpu enabled, set to output on discrete gpu

Hi Tamzzy,

Yeeessss! I un-installed the Intel drivers and checked the bios as you mentioned and I have a screen output from the GPU and an updating graphics driver!

Thanks for your help. First ever PC build up and running! :)

How do I check clock speeds etc? I think the pack Ocuk provided was supposed to be overclocked.
