Pc build help needed!

I started building my gaming pc that i got for christmas, but i have encountered a problem when plugging in the powerleads into the motherboad.
I am hoping someone has an idea on how to get around this problem.

Specs
Phantom 410
Seasonic 650w
Asus Maximus V Formula
Corsair Dominator Platinum 8GB
Core i5 3570k
1 TB Hard drive

The problem i have is on the Maximus V Formula that the EZ Plug is at the bottom of the motherboard and the motherboard is already a tight fit. So the EZ plug is hitting off the guard at the bottom of the case for the power supply stopping the plug from even going into the socket which is the first problem. The socket is about 50% covered by the power supply bracket.
My first instinct was to just cut off the part of the bracket that was covering the plug. But the actual power supply covers the plug as well.

I am hoping there is a simple solution around this rather than cutting and carving the case to make it fit? Can the motherboard do without the EZ plug? Or is it really important?

Or maybe the easiest option is just to buy a bigger case? Which i don't want as i think the Phantom 410 is one of the nicest cases available.

nice case it may be, but if your stuff dont fit, cant see how apart from taking it to bits etc, the plug etc how it can go in, apart from altering the case that is, which would be a shame as your not talking of much either

does seem a very tight fit from the pictures,

The Molex connector there is called the EZ plug. The EZ Plug is a 4-pin Molex connector used to deliver additional power to your motherboard (connection usage is fully optional though).

so you can try it, if something needs it, then that device wont work, but it says in the manual its optional mind you.

but then again ive heard that before and stuff didn't work without it :)

so its trial and error, it wont hurt it without it, but may not work either

I would not worry about the EZ unless your running multiple high end gpu's and trying to get a extremely large Overclock.

Belongs you have the 8 pin connected you be ok.
 
Thanks guys for your help, just another thing. The fans that come with the case have a different connector to what is on my motherboard, I need the female end with 4 pins. Is there an adapter I can buy to change it? Or do I have to get new fans?
 
doesn't matter if it doesn't use all pins either, 3 or four pin etc as long as it fits the plug, if it doesn't fit the plug then you will need new fans.

its a four pin plug, if your has 3 thats fine

No probs :)

For the moment connect them straight to the PSU, I am seeing if Ocuk do a adapter.

Can you take a picture of the fan ends,as i am looking at some reviews and some show the fan with the 3 pin end which fit on the motherboard.

I tried that. The fan connectors don't physically fit, they kept falling off. The white connector shown above was the stock intel cooler fan head which fits perfectly which made me think all fans need changed to that connection as the black ones don't seem to fit.
 
Daft question the black connector goes straight to the fan, no other splices coming off half way up?

The fan connectors should look lie the 4 pin one but in a 3 (these still can connect to the 4 pin fan headers)
 
So sorry, that link with the adapter you posted looks just like the thing i need to change over the connection. Do you have a link to the page where i can buy them, as there is 4 of those connections in total i would need 2? as the connector converts 2 fans to 1 plug?

As far as i am aware the fans are already connected to the fan controller, these fan heads go onto the motherboard. I read this also on another forum because i was trying to figure out where the fan controller power lead went.

Is the fan controller headers all used up, it may be the case they installed the wrong fans :(
 
Yes all the fan controller headers are used up. Just realising that the fans connected to the fan controller headers have that 3 pin connection that are needed for the motherboard. So its the fan controller that is giving out the wrong connection for the fans to be connected to the motherboard.
Can i just unplug the fans from the fan controller and plug them directly into the motherboard and bypass the controller as a temporary measure?
