criminals have more rights in this country..... remember that :(

Or more likely because it could be argued to infringe on peoples privacy and by putting the signs up gives them a choice?
The signs are there to let everyone know they are watching and what is going on, it also acts as a deterent and thus can reduce crime as well as catch it, it has nothing to do with the criminals having more rights than anyone else or any such rubbish.

So the only people that come to your door 'cause trouble' then ? If thats the case I suggest you, get some better friends, complain to the post office about your postman, etc. etc.

The simple fact is people have a right to know they are being filmed and/or recorded. As it is often innocent people that make the most noise about it, it is these people that are being considered not criminals or others causing trouble.

Having said that I'm not exactly sure what the rules on domestic CCTV are, if someone could link to some credible info it may help.

First of all your need a decent DVR card

http://www.averm.co.uk/avermedia/aver/products_security_nv7000.asp?show=9

Mines a NV7000 cost me 250 pounds, it can take 4 cameras you can add more cards if need be later.

The cheapo pci dvr cards do a good enough job, the software has motion detect recording, timed record, etc. And they cost about 30-50 quid :)

My cameras are not the best but good enough.

You need to get hold of CCD based cameras, although they use the same photocell as CMOS kit, they have better processing of the resultant signal giving you a much better picture.

Also beware night vision cameras that have a handful of IR leds around the lense, they give enough light for distances of 7-8 meters (despite what the products claim), you need something with around 30 leds, or a separate led floodlight (around £40ish) to light the area covered by the camera.
Lack of light in the evenings is a major cause of poor picture, NOT just the camera element. I've fitted CCD cameras to a nightclub and they've had a crabby picture despite costing a few bob, it's down to the light you give the lense to work with.

why do people have problems with law enforcement antd CCTV in this country?

i clearly said if they are trouble makers they dont have any rights. Anyone that isnt causing trouble will just show up on the film.. big deal, at least it proves it WASNT them

managed to get a 4 CH DVR card for £60 (its the Swann PCI card) most placed i checked on the internet had it at £100 cheapest been £80 ex postage.

Today i was in the electronics shop and they had them on special offer for £59.99 - was quite pleased as i went in for something else. So quickly grabbed the box as it was the last one left :)

Just need to get the cameras now, been looking at a few made by the same company (Swann) and they have a few CCD wireless ones.

The ones with these Infared LEDs on them - do these actually lightup as bright LEDs.

Light should be to much of a problem when its dark as we have a security light so that give off plenty of light when it comes on.

Are there any other brands of Wireless CCTV cams to look at - the ones im looking at is a package with 2 Indoor/Oudoor CCD Colour Cameras with IR LEDs and the wireless receiver. which in total is about £150-£160.

Nope, they light up in the IR spectrum, but the camera can see it fine.
