I've got a GA-965P along with a 8800GTX and a Corsair 620W PSU. The computer just fails to boot (no signal etc). I've disconnected the RAM, HDD and all devices and it still does the same. I don't get any beeps or anything. I can only assume it is the Motherboard? I've tried 2 PSUs, too.

Just a thought, have you tried manualy shorting the pins on the motherboard just in case it;s a faulty switch on your case.

Does anything power up at all, or is it just completely dead?

Hi, thanks for the replies so far.

The CPU fans spin up but no signal or no beeps.

Out of interest, I've only connected the 24v connector to the motherboard. I've noticed that there are other power sockets. Do they have to have a PSU cable plugged into them?

I'll try pulling out the Gfx and putting it back in. I'll also try manually booting the motherboard. I've recently misplaced the mobo battery - will this cause any booting issues?

You connected the 24 pin? Did you not also connect the 8 pin ATX12V? On my GA board it's right beside the CPU.

You need to have the 8 pin one connected mate. Also make sure you've connected the extra one onto your graphics card. (Or is it 2 on *** 8800 GTX?).

Let us know.

im having similar issues

had over 1yr of solid service from this board, now its up the schoot

most of the time i would get no signal to the monitor, fans on full
other times it would boot up, but after a few minutes it would restart itself and hang with no no signal to the monitor

sent my mb back to gigabyte

Wow this has been a constant issue for the past few weeks now. I had to get two replacements of my Gigabyte motherboard before I got mine to boot up (I also had no signal nor beeps).

Hi guys,

Well I've just tried a new IP35 motherboard and still it fails to boot. I've removed all HDDs, RAM and even the GFX and it fails to post. I've tried 2 PSUs. CPU?

To clarify, if it doesn't load to a BIOS screen it hasn't booted. It has failed to haul itself up from a power off situation by it's boot straps (hence the saying). So, you power it up with both the power leads connected the CPU fan spins for seconds & stops, yes ?

Have you tried disconnecting everything possible al at once ? No RAM, graphics card, HDD, FDD, USB headers etc etc etc

Leave the reset & power switch connected though

On the bright side, it is a choice of PSU, CPU or MOBO.
On the dark side it looks unlikely to be a MOBO as you have swapped it out.
That leaves the PSU which is easy to borrow/swapout or CPU, presuming the case switch is ok as the fans run.
