PC fails to boot

I don't want to sound patronising but it's best to rule out all options, which 8pin psu cable were you connecting to the power socket next to the cpu slot?

If your psu is the newer version there will be 3 8pin plugs,

2 psu cables with 6pin and extra 2pins on the side which are for video cards.

1 psu cable that is a 4pin and a 4pin which can be joined together which is for cpu power.

Hi there,

I am using a Corsair 620W I believe it is. And I've also got a Hyper TypeR (?) 550w.

I am using the 8-pin connector..

I'll rip the motherboard out of the case and try it on the table..

Looking that way mate. Don't fork out for a top of the range one yet though. Maybe borrow an old one or go to a computer repair place and ask them to try another cpu in it for you?
