PC game Loot crates for real money, good or bad?

Maybe ive played the wrong games, but ive never felt the need to purchase crates etc

I have done in Planetside 2 (had the membership), H1Z1 crates.... I think i did with CSGO but that was with money i made selling cards in Steam anyway.

DLC i dont mind getting if it enhances a game, i dont look at it as something missing on an original purchase and if I dont like the DLC I just leave it.

I suppose at 37 im able to make a responsible informed choice and not become a whale as such.. im more of a sucker to buy a game on release and then play it for 3-4 hours before dropping it as I bought into some hype that in reality I never needed :D

No, it is not in any way implemented to stop piracy, it is to get more money out of people from the game, as simple as that. It needs people to stand up and say stuff you I'm not going to pay you anything for a game as completely and utterly money grabbing beyond all else as this. It is pay to win, pure and simple and personally I do not like playing against someone who has paid out no end of money to gain an unfair advantage on a game already around the 50 pounds mark to buy to start with, absolutely disgusting practice.

No, I will not be buying the abomination Battlefront 2.

Thing is..people wont stand up and say that. Not generally speaking anyway. Just look at Shadow of War for example, its a good title, which has loot crates and lots of people are still buying it. Admittedly lots are not buying Battlefront 2, but its that little bit easier to say no to buying a game when the game isnt considered to be good. Shadow of War is considered by many to be very good and I doubt that all that many people will deprive themselves of playing it because of the lootcrates. Some will. Many wont. And thus it will all continue and increase.

Will be picking that up when its cheap in a few months. :)
 
These are being introduced in full priced games and the mechanics are terrible. It literally is gambling and needs controlling and is ruining games. Signed petition.

This basically.
Any full price game that comes out with these bloody "loot crates" deserves to be pirated into the ground. I'd lessened my hatred towards ea in recent years but it's in full flow now given their recent exploitation regarding this.
Unfortunately a large proportion of gamers tend to have lots of money, low self control and an insatiable desire to win so fit the gambler model well but these publishers should have restrictions on how they exploit this!
 
Been gaming since 1978. The gaming industry has some truly awful elements today, even worse are the masses sucking it up. Not only not having a problem with it but even defending it.

Well the Metacritic user reviews for Middle Earth: Shadow of War are certainly letting the developers know what they think of the loot boxes and the paywall towards the end of the game!

the title of that video reminds me of your user name . so much bait i wish he could be banned.everything i hate about media encompassed in one title.macs done the same.cant anyone just do videos anymore without bait ?

next few months to get views in

just gets tiresome.wish more wouldnt go for the obvious bait videos and just review games.i used to sorta like macs reviews but his whole channel is basically take a game and give it a bad review 90 percent of the time.angry joe says it all. :p

Why is it bait? pretty much every poster except you agrees with them, and they have a point.

If you can make a 45 min vid with good points and counter arguments then thats hardly bait, I'd rather some discussion about gaming rather than being a sheep because you dont like negative reviews.

It states he is going to talk about loot boxes & gambling & that is exactly what he does.
