It may include some digital sales.
Although what blizzard games are on Steam?
Well Diablo 3 for one.
Edit: Hmm I'm sure it was!

Was sure I'd seen people on Steam friends playing it but maybe they just added it to library as a 3rd party thing.

That's what we have all been hearing for the last god knows. They said PC gaming was dead...
Thats just NPD. In all seriousness pc gaming dwarfs console gaming. Its easy to see that as the most popular games in the world are pc games LOL and WOW and the biggest gaming community is steam 5m+ concurrent users (xboxlive only 2.5m). Diablo 3 was also the fastest selling exclusive in history.sales of video-game hardware -- a.k.a consoles -- software and even accessories fell for a sixth consecutive month in May, tumbling 28% from a year earlier to $517 million. And with the release of Blizzard's (ATVI) Diablo III, May also saw the first time since July 2010 that the top-selling game was a PC-only title. That boosted PC video games sales up year-over-year to 230% or $80 million.
Considering there have been no new consoles for ages that is still a ridiculous gap!

All the e-sports tournaments are dominated by pc games and all the streaming websites are dedicated to pc games as well. Sometimes it feels like console gamers live in their own little fantasy world without realising how irrelevant they and their communities really are in the gaming world.
Well that's not exactly a fair comparison is it? Steam is free and requires access to a computer. Xbox Live is paid and requires you to have bought the console. (Not to mention all the Steam users on PS3 will skew things)
As for popularity, LOL is free isn't it? I know I have an account but I haven't played it for more than 5 mins. Could easily compare that to something like Angry Birds and say it's a drop in the ocean
Diablo 3 may have sold quickly but totals wise I don't think it's troubling the biggest selling games (obviously early days yet but I still don't think it will)
Those are both fairly niche markets, I doubt the average person in the street will be familiar with either. Tbh you sound like a young guy who seems to have got it in his head that being a pc gamer makes you 'better' Don't worry a lot do that, I'm sure you'll grow up and realise that both offer great things and the real gamers are the ones that appreciate both![]()

yeah its so niche that more people tune to watch e-sports tournaments featuring LOL and sc2 than to play console games on xboxlive and psn.Stop beeing ignorant and getting embrassed by a "young" guy and get a clue before you post.
Source?
I'm not being ignorant, I said it was a fairly niche hobby (maybe less so elsewhere but most definitely in the UK) Walk down your local highstreet and ask how many people know what esports is and who watches it.
Oh and I'll make sure I'm not "embrassed" any time soon![]()
