*** PC Gaming - Daily Deals Thread ***

I've played fallout 2 and new vegas, is fallout 3 worth it? I'm used to the dark humour and canon which people say isn't in F3 so much.

If you liked NV, you will like FO3. Personally, I prefer NV, but only because it basically is FO3, but with loads of extras added(which can all be modded in to FO3 anyway).

No, the "dark humour and canon" is not as prevalent in 3 as in NV, but it is still there!

It's not really a story either.

At half price, is it worth it?

Maybe, just about.

But if I think back to games that have been similar price in the Steam sales over the years then I'd have to no it's not worth it.

Plant vs Zombies is half the price Dear Esther is at the moment and it's got more than an hours worth of playtime in it easily.

It's not just about time you get out of it, and it's a very sad story if you take the time to piece it all together. You just have to take it for what it is, not go in with any preconceptions. The sale price is just about right for the experience imo.

DO NOT FORGET TO MOD YOUR GAME!!

It's a bethesda game, so treat it like one. Several things require mods to fix them and really improve the game dramatically and then it is awesome!

Oh and save often, FO3 was the most buggy game bethesda ever made.

Any of you guy`s heard of this place http://www.kumbaso.com/ Their prices seems unreal though they seem to have some good feedback, Anyone tried them at all??

Edit: Just found out they are a russian site...Think I might swerve them!

of course it's a story :D

I just finished Dear Esther and I enjoyed it even though its very short and non interactive. It's very beautiful and moody and sort of creates an emotional tension even though I am not entirely sure that I followed the story.

Interesting

Just bought Pay Day.

Add me on Steam: ansionnachcliste, if you're looking for a team mate.

I'll be able to play from next week onwards.

You don't get the exact same dialogues every time. I only found this out because I got stuck after trying to drown myself and started again, got a few different dialogues and learnt a bit more as a result.

Not sure I'd play the whole thing again to get them all though. It's spectacularly pretty in places but also terribly desolate and lonely. Which is the whole point, but as you say it creates a vague discomfort that leaves you thinking about the game hours after you've played it.

I know there will be no bargains for awhile but is it possible to get Diablo 3 for a realistic price. There is no ways that I am laying down £40 for a PC game let alone a hack and slash. I am a cheap bas@##@ and that's probably why I religously follow this thread :D

I agree... was tempted to buy it online last night & looked at Blizzard's site... £45 for a PC game!?! Even console prices rarely reach that :s

With no demo either...

... it's likely to be a good game... but with so much **** lately, I'm more reserved about spending my money

Have to agree that £45 for a digital download is an absolute joke.

Still, if people are willing to pay for it, then why not!?

The cheapest I have seen is £32.91 at Tesco :) That isn't a bad price compared to everywhere else but still fairly expensive for a PC game that you may not be that interested in.

I wouldn't expect to see it much cheaper for a good few months though :p

As for a demo, there are guest passes that are floating about which work as a demo and there will be a "starter edition" opening in about 30 days which is essentially a demo.

Yeah... I'm going to wait for the starter edition to materialise... I'm surprised they haven't made it available from the get go.

Frustrating that when I'm able to join (if I like it) others will have had a month of levelling. I guess that's one of the "premiums" they're getting people to pay for.

The Tesco price is better... but still too much for a game I don't know if I'll like or not...

... would be nice if I could get my hands on a guest pass... I want to try it, it looks interesting.

I had a go of the starter edition last night, and it's...good. Polished, pretty, good atmosphere, terribly easy on normal. I'd never pay the €60 they're looking for it direct, but it's definitely worth a look.

Unless you're big into loot based hack'n slash though it won't change your life. Unfortunately if it's like Starcraft it'll never, ever go down to a decent price :)
