*** PC Gaming - Daily Deals Thread ***

They have already raised 2 million dollars. Not bad.

2 million is peanuts tho when you take salaries into consideration. And they are basically not going to generate any future revenue from those games now, so they must be desperate :/

Not to mention that like half of that amount isn't going to THQ.

Default split gives them 65% of the revenue, minus any administrative costs related to the transactions.

Plus the fact that they will lose money or break even on most of the transactions. IIRC they will lose money on a $1 sale due to paypal transaction fees.

You aren't looking at it from the right angle. These titles won't be generating much revenue now. Through this they have achieved $2m revenue that they wouldn't have.

This is extremely clever.

thats not how pp works.

Yes, yes it is. You are charged per transaction. Usually a percentage of the transaction amount plus a fixed fee per transaction.

I don't doubt that they have a extremely good deal from PayPal and even at $1 will be making some money. Just not a huge amount unfortunately.

I don't understand how the humble bundle works really. So you get 2 codes : 1 for SR3, and one for all the rest of the games? What about the soundtracks? And what format are the soundtracks in? MP3?

Yes thats correct, the SR3 one is separate because it is for those who payed over the average.

If you click on the soundtrack images it gives you more info. All are of course available in MP3, the COH ones in flac as well it appears.

Sweet, thanks guys! will pick up all the games, love THQ! Saints Row is probably my favourite IP of recent years. Will probably give away it's key though as I already have it for my PS3. Of course I will wait until after the bundle expires ;)

The people who run the humble bundle, wolfire games, have a different deal with paypal. During the first bundle they discovered that people who paid very little (like 1 cent) ended up costing them money because of the minimum transaction charge. But they came to an arrangement with paypal to avoid this.

Its not disgusting its scummy

Saying that without reservation isn't entirely fair, in my honest opinion. It could just be that someone already has all the games and just wants them on steam and would not have paid anything otherwise. They do still get some money in the end, even if it isn't a lot.

If they were not going to make any money they would not really be doing it and, as there's no physical product involved, big numbers should make up for the lower price. A good example of this would be would be when many game publishers from steam supported the large summer sale reductions after EA had criticised them for devaluing IP.

I would just leave it to personal conscience.

I love it when a thread that's essentially for posting deals people find when browsing the web turns into some hot debate.

Anyway, X-Com Enemy Unknown is 19 quid for anyone who missed it here. Gaming Dragons (formerly Ultimatum Game Keys) is totally trustworthy don't worry.

Not sure what's going on but when I go on the humble site the custom amount box is already filled with the price $13.37 and there's no way of changing it

Anyone else get this?

Using Firefox, tried it with Chrome and it's the same but when I use IE the field is empty. I've cleared the cahce, etc.... strange?!
