*** PC Gaming - Daily Deals Thread ***

I've avoided Amazon US deals up to now in the hope that they will finally open a UK download service, as they've supposedly been threatening to do since April 2011. I'm not particularly keen at the thought of lying about my billing address, but I'm now losing patience.

Has anyone had/seen/heard anything about any fallout at all from either Amazon or CC companies from people doing this? I've seen mention of additional credit card charges when doing this - anyone had those?

Cheers.

Depending on the bank you may receive a foreign transaction fee. I am with Lloyds and they charge £1 per overseas transaction.

Other than that the only other thing you have to be wary of is any games being region locked. I have bought a few and all have unlocked in the UK except Inversion - which if I had researched prior to that would have discovered that it was region restricted. Fortunately Amazon customer service is probably the best around (after Overclockers :p ) and refunded me without a problem. Albeit I had to tell a little white lie and they re-iterated their "no gifting" policy for downloads in the email informing me of refund.

Only a few more days until th steam sale, then you will have all the deals you could ever wish for :)

Finished xmas shopping weeks ago, money left is all mine, I'm bursting, got a new 660 and want to buy some games ill install and never play :D

Quite fancy blops2, not sure why.

Gamefly as usual start their Xmas sale before Steam so keep an eye on them daily most are about the same price as Steam so if you want a digital game without needing to have Steam running in the background when playing the game this is a good place for many games ;)

You might get a foreign transaction fee, depends on your bank. I've bought plenty of games from Amazon US and have had zero problems.

Also worth mentioning that if you purchase one of these deals you will get a $5 voucher to use against a game from their 2012 Editor's Choice Digital Games section. Redeemable from 1/1/13

Hitman: Absolution PC - is on Amazon US for $20 (£12.50 ish) currently http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007VFHIHA...tiveASIN=B007VFHIHA&adid=1Z4059NT7F0PJ0ZMKZPX

Registers on Steam :)

I think the ones that were pending got emails to say the transaction had been cancelled :(

This happened to me with the Kingdoms of Amalur deal on amazon a few weeks ago - the key came through in the end. Usually I get the keys straight away.

Btw Im using my mastercard and fake US address (I followed the instructions earlier in this thread to set it up). Have bought loads in the amazon sales - almost as good as the steam sales ! (Only problem was with the region locked inversion which was easy enough to use a VPN to activate)

Edit - picked up Hitman too, another great deal !

Haha, didn't even get an email to say the transaction was cancelled. Not only did this bunch of shysters mess up in the first place, they don't have the balls to do what they say they're going to do. After ordering, the message we got was "Order Status: Processing. Your order has been received and queued for processing. You will receive an email within 1 business day, at which time you will be charged and your products delivered."

Now i'm not sure of the legal implications of this, but i'd say they have to honour the sale based on their very words above. And here are the screenshots I took at the time as evidence:
