What's the deal with Borderlands 2, everyone I know who owns it has spent £20+ on dlc, is it needed or is the base game good enough

It is just the store, the games will still work.

After 01/07/14 all GFWL games will stop working as the servers are being shutdown so would not advise anyone to buy anymore titles unless they know GFWL is being replaced or removed totally by the publisher.

I imagine this is true, multiplayer will not work but single will be playable. The news was announced from Age of The Empires Online who said that the game will not work as it's online only.

Base game is great, DLC is just as good.
You could just pick the dlc up over the xmas sales maybe if you click with it but if youre impatient you might end up kicking yourself if you do enjoy it!

I fall into the patient category, I'll be waiting for a GoTY edition. I dislike paying for a game, then buying lots of dlc for further chunks of cash...you end up spending a fortune.

I picked up every GTA released for £4.99.

I bet you didn't get GTA: London Sorry for being pedantic but I've never understood why that game is always left out of packs.

Pretty sure as mentioned it is safe to buy titles. Games are already starting to patch ready for the transition. Maybe online play will be affected for some titles but your GFWL catalogue won't suddenly be rendered useless

Most recent link was a repost, there were a few posts about it a page or two back.

RE: The Bureau XCOM Declassified, I bought it for £10 a week or two back and enjoyed it. If you like the premise (best of the best from different agencies forming a new one to combat aliens), and the time period then it's worth a go. It's by no means a great game, but it manages to hold it's own. There are supposedly a few bugs, but I'm not on a great system and it ran fine.

Not if you want to play them after 01/07/14 most GFWL titles from the last 3-4 years used SSA which is an online GFWL tech to validate you own the game legally. No GFWL= all these games will no longer be able to activate & unlock the encrypted exe on your PC.

This means unless the publisher/dev patches GFWL out the games will never install as the GFWL servers you need to complete the install will be deactivated so your stuck with a worthless game
