*** PC Gaming - Daily Deals Thread ***

Yeah humble is becoming more commercial, but truth be told most people would not be giving to charity AT ALL when they bought those games elsewhere, if they even bought the games at all.

I for one wouldn't have bought half the games I've gotten through humble bundles for anywhere near RRP, but feel that $5 for five games is immense value even if I'll never play half of them.

I always change it to 25% humble tip, 25% developers and 50% charity, but do you really expect big companies to give away their latest multi million dollar development project for (probably) a loss? the EA bundle that sold millions of copies was STILL a £200 saving on RRP despite the games being a couple of years old, and sure the developers benefited hugely from more sales but there's still a huge amount of money going to charity that probably wouldn't otherwise...

Charity is a nice sweetener, but developers still need money to stay in business... Go play your cheap games and stop moaning about how you should get them for free :P.

Ah now that's a bit disingenuous, they do a huge amount for charity, €31million so far. I always donate the full amount to charity, and I really don't care whose games I'm doing it for.

Exactly. You can also make sure your full amount goes to charity, just because people 'may not' doesn't take away the fact they advertise the charity and state you can clearly.

I've bought a fair few of these and saved a lot of money and given to charity in the process.

Yes they are more commercial in the sense they now have a store, but look which games they are promoting and selling in that store. Mainly indie releases. The games in the bundles are at a massive discount anyway. If you don't want them, don't buy them simple as.

Petition has started to increase post count to keep the riff raff out:D

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo :p

Didn't the Origin/EA bundle in fact give ALL the proceeds to charity by default?

Thing is the bigger companies "muscling in" on the deal appear to be mostly using it as a way of netting a few extra sales of some of their older titles (for the most part) as opposed to offering huge discounts on their current titles (Civ V BNW is a good example of that)...

The exposure for Indie devs is by far the better part of the deal for them - I've gone on to buy other games by a developer because of a fun game they made and I picked up via humblebundle... The same is not really true for the bigger companies - I knew about them, I knew their games were sometimes overpriced repetitive boring shovelware, so I just appreciated being able to pick up some of their back-catalogue at a cheap(ish) price

Exactly. And that's why it's a shame that it's seemingly losing its focus on indie titles.

On the other hand, I believe EA actually gave their portion of their humble bundle to charity (though I don't think any of the other big publishers did the same)

EPIC Indie Gala Bundle.

http://www.indiegala.com/

I say epic as it has a number of games that I have been after getting:

Beast Boxing Turbo (Looks like PC Super Punch Out and has good reviews!)
Sand Froid (Intriguing game design, looking forward to checking it out)
Rush Bros (Soundtrack looks (and hopefully sounds!) awesome. I love Infected Mushroom..)

and other titles that look promising:

Intersteller Marines (I activated both and was gifted back the non Spearhead addition which now resides in my inventory)
Pixeljunk Shooter
Cubicity (Desura only)

All are Steam keys except Cubicity. More Steam games to be added if you beat the average and for the moment you can get them all at the reduced $3.99.

Epic :)

Is indeed Epic.
I like the look of Instellar Marines, Boxing and Rush bros, the others are all meh. but for the equivalent of £2.67ish for 3 games I want, I cant fault it.

Shame that I cant physically buy it as the site has system maintenance atm.

Followed it through, and paid $4, rather sucky that EU needs to pay the tax on top...... final price £3.11

This looks pretty good

Just reading that if you buy the full pack, you get a spearhead key + a normal key.
If u activate spearhead, u then get a giftable key for the normal version on steam

So you get 3 keys for Intersteller Marines

Intersteller Marines, for such a good game it is always dead online, I guess the devs are doing this to pull some much needed players in. Most of the time you get 2-3 on one server ALL the time. The game is so good as well imo I don't know what happened to it.

Any one able to find a good price for The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav? Best I can see is Kinguin for about £7.50, but looking at the price history is was £1.80 ish at GOG over Christmas so kinda begrudging paying £7.50.
