What do people think of G2Play? I had an issue with a code they sent, and after several emails back and forth, it seemed they weren't that interested in resolving the problem.

BundleStars Indie Capsule 2 looks pretty good for £2.99

One Finger Death Punch is supposed to be great, and Tiny & Big : Grandpa's Leftovers looks good too

Thats ridiculous. Death Punch only came out on Steam last week; I paid 3.19 for it after watching Total Biscuits WTF on Youtube. Talk about devaluing your product...

It's a nice gesture and all, but personally I feel a bit uneasy about gifting keys for these indie titles. Indie devs don't tend to get a lot of income from their games.

I post this link a lot, but have a read of how the income was earned for the indie game "Dustforce", which appeared in Humble Indie Bundle 6. It's quite an eye opener, and made me a little more aware of how, if we want these great indie games to keep appearing, we need to support the guys putting the hours in;

That all said, you paid for the Steam key so you are entitled to do with it what you wish. And the recipients are undoubtedly grateful.

They made about $80K each, There game was profitable and there making another one....what more do you want? Clearly it shows that people do support these games.

Over the 2 year development, that's £24k per year each ($80k = £48k). That's almost acceptable for a bog standard office job, but for a job which requires you to work for 2 years before seeing any cash, running the risk of the game sinking without a trace and making no money, and then only making it to an acceptable income because of being fortunate enough to be picked up by Humble.... those guys need every penny.

Remember, that's just one example (income figures on games are notoriously hard to find details of).

You obviously see things differently to me and that's fine. Maybe I'm in the minority. Or outright wrong. I just have a belief that we need to be aware of just how precarious indie developing is and that, if we want what is the most imaginative and interesting area of our gaming hobby to continue innovating, we should be aware of how our activity impacts upon its survival.

The article states that is their profit after expenses (including income tax, and according to the comments, even cost of living expenses such as food) so that £24k per year is pure profit sat in their savings accounts. Not a bad return.

In fact, having re-read, they made $295k after business expenses (NOT living expenses) and income taxes. So $74k each, or £44k (after tax). That translates to £1,800 per month after tax. Which is what you'd get in a £27k per year job

which is perfectly fine..... Not sure why your making them out to be martyrs for the cause here because even they dont make that assumption.

Pretty sure you will find that Salaries are in the business expense heading.

I didn't really want to be taking up pages of this thread on defending this, but this lifted from the article;
The final figure for our income after exactly one year of sales is $489,404 USD (from a total of $668,490 in revenue). Of course, there are also costs to running the business: legal and accounting fees, software licenses, server costs, and some travelling expenses have added up over the past year to take a good $36k or so out of our total income. When you take that into account, along with personal income taxes, we are left with around $295k.

They're deliberately being open about their financial performance here. They really haven't hidden sneaky bits of income in there.

Once I purchase the bundle it surely makes little difference if I redeem the keys personally or gift one or more of them? Regarding the keys I gifted in this thread - I already owned them. I simply wanted the keys for the other games in the bundle. As for Dustforce - Humble Bundle increased their revenue & sales presence on Steam..

The Humble Bundle was a great success: we made roughly $153,915, and unlike the last promotion, we did notice an increase in Steam sales afterwards.

Back on-topic.. anyone tried the latest IndieGameStand deal?

Could somebody possibly suggest the cheapest place to get Battelfield 4 Premium?

Looking through the thread there doesn't appear to be any current offers on :)
