*** PC Gaming - Daily Deals Thread ***

I think they lowered the price of the base game and raised the price of the GOTY, I'm fairly sure it was CDkeys that had the GOTY edition for £13.99.

I have a copy of Elite Dangerous base game to give away. It is from Frontier not Steam so there is no code that I can just post so if you are interested can you PM me ( Neowave#5833 ) from the unofficial OcUK Discord ( https://discord.gg/p8G8jE6 … right click on me from the user list on the right & select Message ) . Or if you are not on Discord you can reply to this post & we'll work something out.

Thanks.

To me a reputable seller would sell keys sourced from the developers/publishers. And unless they prove that, I'd rather just support sellers who do, which is why I use isthereanydeals. I'm not saying they should be avoided at all costs or that they'll steal your data, every transaction is probably safe.

It's well known that the publishers' own sales people offload keys to resellers in bulk to reach sales targets. They talk out of two sides of their mouths.

By insisting on purchasing keys sourced directly from publishers - you're supporting region locking, which has always been a dirty practice, and is partly to blame for killing off small publishers.

There's no moral high ground in any of this.

I've heard this before but even if that is the case and it is done under the counter so to speak, they are still from the publishers and not bought from regions with a much lower price. If it is as simple as publishers just give them keys to try make more sales, then I support them. If it isn't and they buy keys from cheaper regions then I don't.

I don't see region locking as a bad thing for the initial purchase and activation. Atleast it would stop people buying games from a much cheaper region than was intended for where they lived.

Although there is arguments from both sides and it's something that will continue to be debated for a long time. So I'll bow out and let's move forward with just posting good deals :p.

Well said tbh :)

So I bought the Long Dark and installed it. And the game wont start. The game icon shows up in the tray at the bottom, but nothing happens. I've tried updating my graphics drivers. I've tried rebooting the PC. I've verified the files on Steam. Tried running it in administrator mode. Nothing works.

Anyone know a solution for this?

Don't have it myself but had a bit of a search and one thing suggested quite often when people were having issues was running in DX9 mode. Might not help but maybe worth a try? Instructions can be found within this page - http://steamcommunity.com/app/305620/discussions/4/1290691308593730337/

State of Decay Year One Survival Edition

http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/app/329430/

£22

Came across an update to State of Decay, basically a facelift in graphics terms and new missions etc. Mostly positive reviews although negatives mainly about bugs and not worth full price. I played the original for a bit and rather liked it so did a search and this new version can be picked up for around £4-5 on sites such as Kinguin, G2Play etc. Both original DLC included for the price.

A sequel is coming this year https://www.stateofdecay.com/faq/
