They said not that long ago that all 1st party titles will launch same day to game pass. Games as a service is where they want to be at, then charging you those little extra micro transactions won't sound so bad if the game was "free".
I do sub to the game pass, the library is quite large and there's enough games I and the kids play on a regular basis to make it worth it for me. The game pass is shared with family members.
