PC gaming is back on the high-street!

How are you not in London yet? Or have just been an idiot and missed it?

I'm playing on an 8 year old PoS PC, yet I refuse to upgrade until AMD Zen... let me see what i'm missing out and you may twist my arm!

In the OP. No mention of London.:)

Completed:

To come:
Bournemouth Castle Point

Bah, my snail will keep slugging along for now then!

That's great until you decide you want a game and don't want to wait for delivery ;)

How is this relevant for PC gamers?

CD Keys/Instant Gaming deliver keys the day before (well so far it's been that way for me 100% of the time) so you're pre-loaded and ready before it's even out.

Amazon Prime is cheaper and games always tend to be on Prime Now which is a 2 hour delivery =/

I do wish you all well and expect you will sell a few systems but I cant help but feel........

Dad & Son : We are interested in this OCUK flashship system here. We've not owned a PC before just a console. What software and games are available ?

Game Salesperson : Well sir if you look right over at the back in that tiny corner where the cobwebs are you will find our small selection of PC Games.

Dad & Son : Think we'll just get a new PS4 then son.

Some people still prefer physical disks, or e.g. collectors editions with physical goodies.

Assuming you a) have a prime membership (which incidentally you have to pay for so depending how much you use it doesn't necessarily mean the games are cheaper), and b) live in one one of the Prime Now areas which are very few at the moment.

I get that it's not relevant for everyone, but at the same time, less competition is rarely good for the customer ;)

Any plans for branching out in Kent? For example I think there's a big Game in Bluewater shopping centre. I'd 100% go in for a peruse!

I had a quick look at the shop in Gloucester and the staff didn't seem too interested. They had a game running which looked a bit like Mario Super Carts with comparable graphics to a console. Why don't you use a big 4K monitor and showcase something like ARMA 3 which isn't available on console. Even a game like GTA V looks much better on a powerful PC and at least it would get people interested instead of thinking that the display is just another console.

Popped in to Bournemouth store.

Got collared as soon as I walked towards it although it turned out the guy was a gamer and pc builder himself so had a good chat with him.

Setup seemed good hoping they will stock parts so it could turn into a rebranded walk in ocuk.

One thing I would say was the pc was running minecraft and while im sure it will attract attention its not graphically rich so people won't see the benefits of what a powerful rig can do

Running violent/PEGI 18 rated games as demos wouldn't be a great idea for a store.

Just heard about this. Good idea can only be good for pc gaming :)

I havent been into the one in Braehead yet but i will check it out.

Now how "interactive" are these displays?

You often see the xbox and ps demo stations and a gaggle of folk gathered round them.

Is it the case here that you will have a TON of games installed (steam i guess?) and the customer can demo/try them out?

Because if so, excellent job!

Also is it all the same spec PCs in each store? watercooled 980s or similar? We need to show folk how beastly pcs really are.

Also if you do have the above.....depending on how well the VR market takes off 2016 and 2017 you could branch out to a PC VR demo workstation as well...imagine the possibilities :D Ohh and when can we expect the OCUK VR machine?
