Today I just test built my PC, outside the case after choosing to do a full system wipe and upgrade to windows 10 as I bought an SSD. Expecting it to go fine however its just been in a reboot loop forever and wont ever stop unless manually turned off. Ive checked all the voltages from my PSU (Corsair CX650M), removed cmos, remounted CPU cooler (K2 Mount Doom) and checked the socket. With everything unplugged and just 1 stick of RAM it will boot ubuntu on a USB and then crash when too many windows are open. The same happens for installing windows it just crashes out mid way through. CPU is 3770K and motherboard is GA Z77X-UP4 TH.

Its not a major issue as looking for a black friday upgrade but this increases price as now no resale value. Any ideas are welcomed I will answer what I can

Remove all other drives and any random USB devices.

So it's just board, CPU, ram and ssd.

Try updating the BIOS (use qflash only).

Ok so i did a qflash bios update and then tried to boot up windows installation usb and it crashed when i clicked the install now button

I have three ideas,

1) if using a gfx card remove it and use onboard.
2) Check the BIOS and try flipping the SATA controller setting from AHCI to IDE or visa versa.
3) Try another drive to install to.

The fact its booting and you can get past the BIOS to the windows install screen is kinda promising.

I have a theory. i think the capacitors are damaged causing a memory error on the ram. It makes sense because by moving the ram and constantly rebooting I've been able to boot even if it was unstable. it was overclocked my guess is the mb and capacitors were at an unstable heat although there is no physical damage on the mb some capacitors i cant see due to heat sinks

Hmmm, not sure as if something was seriously wrong I doubt you would get as far as you have.

You tried the ram in all slots?

clear cmos.

Turn power off at the wall, ditch the battery for a bit, replace and power back on.

Check sata cables too.
