I'm having a strange problem with my eSATA drive in Win7. If I switch it off before shutting down, the shutdown process freezes. I've noticed that if the drive is on, the drive will spin up briefly and it will read the drive briefly before shutting down.

Is there any way to disable whatever check is happening to the drive? I can't seem to find a way to unmount the drive before I switch it off, but I guess if there was a way, then that would work too.

I can't seem to get hotswap.exe to load on start up, I've clicked the appropriate option, and even tried adding it to the startup folder, but nothing happens. Any ideas?
