pc or not to pc

starcraft 2.
sw: tor.

that is all.

edit: my working

RTS games, MMO games aren't available on console. You can plug in controller to pc to enjoy the games with more frames, but with the console feels. PC games generally cheaper. Largely better community (no 10 year olds crying about this and that). Generally everything the chappie above said.

Consoles have the big advantage of being plug and play. This can be really nice as I have been spent more time getting a PC game working than actually playing it ......

Plus I find Console games are better for short 15/20 minute break. Don't know why - it just works that way for me....

GT5 is a fantastic game, but it is definitely not the visual feast everyone claims. 90% of screenshots are from photo mode and even then are only the exclusive top 200 or so cars. Personally I find the visuals on my PC in racing games to be far superior, but that is not to say that now isnt a great time to get a PS3. I've had mine since lunch and it is remarkable the sheer quantity of stuff that it can do plus the games library is finally at a point where it is actually worth owning one for gaming.

go for it. there are many great ps3 games out there, exspecially ps3 exclusive ones (not on xbox or pc). killzone, uncharted 1&2, infamous ...

the killer for me is the 720p resolution and the 30 fps, ASC 2.5 lags all over the place, defo wait for pc release. oviously the graphics are terrible but they're tolerable.

and hey you be able to play BF 1943, the game which has been delayed almost 1.5 years for the pc to what extent we question will it ever come out.

Problem with PC gaming these days, is its no longer the pinnacle.. The best games are just console ports. Apart from a very small handfull of games such as WoW. I still prefer FPS's on my PC though eve though I have a choice of getting it on either a PS3/360 or
PC.

Racing games, depends.. If its 30fps on a console and 60fps on a PC then obviously a pc.. But if not then console.

Three things have always kept me a bit iffy about console:

1. Price of games.
2. Loading times.
3. Lack of keyboard/mouse controls.

That's why I stick with PC gaming, price of games isn't hugely different but I don't have to load of old-tech HDDs or DVDs to play my games and I can choose any controller I want.

could always wait for Test Drive Unlimited 2 on the pc.

some of the pc driving games do look really good once u turn all the graphics options on and run it in high res

shift is still one of if not the best looking race game with all the settings maxed out :)

pitty we dont have a forza/GT game on the pc though we can only hope shift 2 is similar to those games

for 10 years pc gamers have been wanting a GT style came its amazing it hasnt happened especially considering the amount of sim racers that own expensive pc setups

thinking of giving up pc games and going to buy ps3 stuff instead. There seems to be a lot off stuff out there for the ps3 atm.I am thinking of getting gran turismo 5.I just dont see anything i like anymore for the pc.Anybody here got gt 5 for the ps3 and would i see much difference in performance over pc games.
Save the money & buy a better gfx card instead & or upgrade other PC components ;)

PS3 is not that great. I sold mine last year as it just did not get used (I bought it at launch so had it a few years). Most PS3 games unless they are Sony 1st party titles (which you can count on 2 hands!) are lacking over the 360 version due to the limited Vram of the PS3 & harder to program devolpment tools which costs more money than the 360/PC to make the same game!!

Then you have really slow Bluray drive speeds which are not going to change (many games require an install which can take up to 1 hour).

PS3 draws in buyers due to the playstation brand but beneath it all the games are usually shallow & lacking. MP is pretty poor as PSN is sluggish & badly implemented.

You name almost any PS3 game which the owners tell you is great etc etc I guarantee you there is a PC equivalent which will look better & is much cheaper to buy ;)

For the price of a PS3 you could upgrade your PC & still have money left for the Xmas Steam/GFWL sales where they literally give away games for a few pounds each ;)

i reckon all future consoles are going to be based on pc components just like the 360 which can only be good for pc gaming really.

just need to stop the exclusives that never come to pc like Gt/forza/final fantasy etc

Imo when PS3 was first released it was considered a very powerful albeit slightly overhyped console whose full potential was waiting to be released and I think at that time the gaming pcs weren't very powerful to counter it.
However with the Xbox 360 being easier to program for and the release of core 2 quads/ i series/ phenom etc and more powerful graphics cards, the PS3 somewhat took a backseat and never managed to reclaim the crown which PS1 and PS2 possessed during their era.
Also the console games price especially PS3 games doesn't really go down much and usually stays in the £30s. For this amount of money I must have bought 10 games during steam black friday sale including metro 2033:).

There are still good exclusives released on PS3 like unchartered 2:among theives and GT5 but like mentioned before these are few and far in between per year.

I'd never own a console anyway, but the price of its games just gives me extra reason not to. Paying 50 quid in some cases for a game is a joke.

Can buy 10 new released console games for 400 quid
Can buy 10 new released PC games for 250 quid.

On PC I have greater multiplayer potential, modding potential, better graphics, greater choice of control options and ultimately better control options. The 400 quid I spend on a console would be lost once the new generation comes out, however if I spend 400 quid upgrading my PC it will likely carry over into the next generation of gaming before I choose to upgrade it again.

I just see no reason to console game when you have the option to PC game.

And consoles will never be able to beat the epicness of steam sales and others alike.

I think the next Xbox may well be a PC hardware all in one solution card which does gfx/sound/physics etc etc would be cheaper for MS to build & market this than another fixed hardware box which will be obsolete long before its ever released!

PC gaming is coming back now anyway ;) It wobbled a bit when PS3/360 first came out but now its so easy to port games to PC & online DRM is getting better at stopping piracy plus emerging markets are PC only gaming markets. I think digital download sales on certain PC games globally are massive which is why no-one wants to talk about the actual figures ;)

I think that we might be heading towards streaming gaming, and less hardware dependence that is if a relatively unified position on highspeed internet can be achieved although that is probably more mid to long term. Bring on globally integrated fibre optic networks with modular upgradability.

As to whether to get a PS 3 or not it really depends on the type of game you want to play Fifa and PES are both better on console and yes Forza and GT are very good sims but so is the cm stuff on PC. Consoles are good for sports/fighting games because PC's aint great for local multiplayer everything else the pc does better. MvsC 3 might be a reason to buy a console on it's own for some people.
