What is the best ??? my mates with the PS3 just seem to laugh at the PC in the game industry!!! Has anyone got both? What's your verdict? There are ppl spending £600+ on sli graphic cards compared to £300 on the PS3!!!! WTF....

Uh oh, here we go..

gameplay depends totally on each individuals experience

graphics in some sense depends on the game and how lazy the developers /publishers were when porting the game from one platform to another.

my summary is it is impossible to determine whatever is best, just enjoy each game on the platform that gives you the best experience

Had PS3, SOLD IT, its good for what it is but don't even compare it to the GFX the latest cards can push out, online gaming is king on PC and is more for ten year olds on the PS3.

My mate happens to have COD4 and what a surprise i have it too for the Pc... I might not have the greatest of spec cards but it's still at the back of my mind that his COD4 looks better than mine........ and i am running on everything high!!

Console gaming doesn't compare to PC gaming in my opinion, this is why after years and years I am still happy to fork out for the best hardware even though it costs a load more. I also find you get a lot less kids on multiplayer PC games which makes for a better gaming experience.

What res do you play at? The native resolution of console games is far lower. most run at 1024x600 (same screen res as a 9" eee) and then stretched to fit 720p/1080p, whereas I think the average for a PC gamer is probably somewhere in the region of 1650x1050 or 1980x1200.

If you're running a higher res your card is actually working a hell of a lot harder to produce a larger image.

Just a small correction. SOME run lower than 720p but most do actually run at 720p.

PC is better for both graphics and gameplay, anyuone who says different either has not used a decent pc for gaming, or refuse to try and get used to the keyboard and mouse way of moving.

ps3 is easy. pc is more of a fuss, but more rewarding.

ps3 should have a 1080p HD TV with it

PC does more but ps3 has blue ray

how about both?:D

Graphics are better for sure on the PC but to say game play is better is purely a matter of preference.

Sometimes I wish I had just stuck with consoles but since dabbling with high end hardware and seeing how good games look on PC compared to consoles with a decent resolutions over the years. I simply cannot stand to use any console anymore as the graphics constantly let me down. If only my standards were slightly lower I may have more cash in my back pocket :D

Swings and roundabouts. PC Gaming is a lot more rewarding theres nothing like building a new rig up then seeing how much FPS you can pull out.

I have PS2/XBOX/XBOX360 Elite all collecting dust with some games for them that i have not even gotten out of the wraps.
& only when mates come around or im pushed into it for on-line play does the dust come of the 360.

Oh not this again ! I must admit, if i had an LCD TV I would get a PS3 mainly because i have a few friends who have one.

The PS3 and xbox 360 are both quite low specced. (7900gt and x1900xt or similar IIRC ?) the reasons they look better than you would expect are because: every game is designed with their exact spec in mind and because they generally run at a lower resolution than PC games. Another thing to consider is that if you fine tuned every PC game by going through all the graphics setting and carefully selected a few 'medium' rather than "ultra high", you would probably find that, without a direct side by side comparison, you wouldn't notice a huge difference. But because the options are there, most of us go for ultra high every time.

Although not new, i suspect that it will be quite a while before we see a PS4 or xbox720 (?) and PC games will be much more advanced by then.

Oh and on a side note, sell those 320mb 8800s and get a newer card. Remember with SLi 2x 320mb=320mb and at anything higher than 1280x1024 that will hold you back. I had a 256mb 3850 and at 1280x1024 is was really good (at the time and for only £103) when i moved up to 1680x1050 it was destroyed, games went from running great to ****
