PC problems even after reformat twice

Alright people here seeking some advice, for the past 4 days i've been having a lot of bother with my system. At first i was getting spammed with "Com surrogate errors" by the 100 as in they were popping up a lot faster than i could close them down - I was unable to do anything due to the speed my computer was running at while being spammed.

After reformatting my computer seemed dandy for a few days then all of a sudden i started to get com surrogate errors once again doing certain things loading certain programs, after it started to happen on a few of my programs i use on a regular basis i decided to reformat once again.

so i got everything reinstalled and today when going to watch a movie i noticed my VLC stopped responding, i checked real player windows media player nothing was working, Skype loads but asoon as i put on webcam, it goes to not responding. Dota wont run either, although World of warcraft will.

I really have no Idea whats wrong - I've tried downloading reimage but it locks up asoon as i start a scan forcing me to restart my system.

I have a feeling this is a hardware issue but as to what - I have no idea..

I'm running windows 8 pro.

Suggestions please?

Safe mode first then if the problems still persist check the ram. If the problems disappear in safe mode then it's likely a dodgy driver

Ill do this in 5 mins - I was just looking into the side of the case just now and im sure there are normally more "lights" on - either the mobo has less glowing or the ram i have is duller not sure yet.. any ways ill try this and get back to you thanks.

Just ran in safe mode, my vlc is working although my skype is just going instantly to not responding. Could this really be a driver issue, i mean i've reformatted and reinstalled current drivers 3 times within the last 4 days and the problem still stands.

I actually have some spare ram, i guess i can swap that over and see if it helps at all - I'd be gutted if it has gone spent about 220 on it like under a year ago :/

So you think its worth trying to put different ram in?

Wazza, i tried that last time around - i followed the instructions but it never stopped the spamming at all even after reset. (there were like 130 background processes running called "COM Surrogate"

Reinstalling the same drivers isn't helping diagnose the problem. Find some older ones. Start with the motherboard and go from there

So i've spent some time backdating drivers, trying a bunch of different processes to see what crashes and what does crash. From what i can see backtracking my drivers has done nothing at all :/

I'm at the stage when i m just aimlessly going to go buying parts to replace my current and just pray that it works.. Starting with Mobo probably.

thanks for the advice.

Skype wouldnt work in safe mode anyways as there is no connection right? If you think its maybe something left on the drive causing you problems them you should cmd wipe it in another machine just to make sure it's 100% clean and then start from there.

I've never actually done a cmd wipe before, is it pretty straight forward - ill check it out on google, but certainly worth trying.

when you say in another machine, you cant do it in the current system?

cheers.

Just done it right now mate, Still no luck - same issues with same programs.

At least that makes me feel somewhat better that the issue probably is not to do with the ram.

Cmd wipe is easy. You need to put it in another machine as its through windows unless I am mistaken. Its super simple though and a quick google search for cmd wipe will guide you through the 4-5 step instructions. Actually done it today myself and it took seconds. It got rid of a pesky partition that was giving me grief on me Dads PC.

I think you should be able to do a CMD wipe on your existing PC if you boot from your Windows install disc and choose "Repair", (this should give the option to enter CMD).

If you've also had no success with the link wazza supplied, have you tried to check your hard disk for errors, long shot but could perhaps be a fault with your hd, which might help explain why reinstalls wont work?

Are you overclocking?

I've not manually clocked, although the mobo's oc button is active - so its clocked i guess.

Can you try a different HDD with a new OS install?

I can do that, its currently on an ssd i can try installing it on the old HDD

Have you ran a chkdsk yet?

Dont even know what that is so i guess not, ill google it!

Still need to try the cmd wipe, not long home from work.
