Hi guys

Just recently upgraded my computer with a graphics card from **** and a bundle consisting of a motherboard, CPU and ram from over lockers. Spec are -

Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz @ 4.00GHz Sandybridge CPU
Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Intel Z68
Kingston HyperX Beast 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
Prolimatech Lynx CPU Cooler
Samsung SpinPoint F3 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
OCZ ModXStream Pro 500w
XFX AMD Radeon 7850 HD 860MHz 2GB PCI-Express 3.0

Been playing games all afternoon and computers been running great. Left it downloading far cry 3 on steam and came back 2 hours later to discover that the PC had turned itself off.

I tried turning it on. It powers up for about a second then goes off for about 2 seconds then goes on again cut the monitor doesn't detect it. All the fans on the CPU, graphics card and the PSU are on. I tried a different graphics card and hard drive but same problem.

I think it must be the CPU or the motherboard but surely they've not conked out after 2 days use ?

Try doing a CMOS reset, it might be a issue with your overclock (assuming your still overclocked)

Try the monitor connected to the on-board graphics (it's got one on this board I think). It sounds like it might have thrown a wobbly in the BIOS and reverted to defaults. If so it may have switched to default graphics i.e. internal graphics as opposed to graphics card.

Thanks for the replies.

I done a reset and its giving me 2 options -

Continue with system resume which I tried and it just stalls on the resuming windows.

The other option is -

Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu

Should I try that ?

Ok I done that and my pc's working again :)

Bit worried about overclocking the cpu back to what it was, its now reading as

3.30GHz 3.60 GHz as opposed to the 3.90 GHz it was showing before.

Just reading your post above mine (5) is seems that your pc was put into Hibernate rather than shutting down

Stick your overclock back and you will be fine :D

How do I set the overclock back. To what it was ?

If it came clocked at 4Ghz I would well imagine the multiplier (CPU ratio) was set to 40 (100x40=4000mhz or 4Ghz). Does it have the stock heatsink or an aftermarket one on? I would think you can do better than 4Ghz to be honest if you aret on the stock cooler.

It doesn't have to be difficult, do a little googling. Your 7850 GPU should overclock very well too if you want to give that a try.

Download OCCT to stress test the CPU and check temps when overclocking the CPU. MSI afterburner is a good tool for doing the GPU

Yeah I bought this as a pre over clocked bundle. It was supposed to be over clocked to 4GHz but it was listed as 3.9 GHz.

Now after the reset its back to 3.3 GHZ

There's a section in the OCUK Full Systems & Bundles forum that says u just need to go into the bios and load the OcUK/Profile1 but no such profile exists.

Looks like I might have to over clock it myself and I'm no expert....

When in the BIOS you should see a option on the bottom row of the screen which mentions F12: load CMOS from BIOS your saved profile should be here.

When you checked earlier did you look in the saved profiles area? (Thought I double check :))

F12 in the BIOS.
