PC runs at max speed all time / No monitor signal problems...

yep! far as i know,

plus what are the chances of two different motherboards going, but both the same kind.. and from different sources?

im really lost now what to do,
i even attached a speaker too it, to hear the bleeps.

but nothing, i took the memory out to listen for beeps, nothing...

im so lost... :(

was looking forward to getting the new motherboard in, starting her up and getting back to doing stuff, now.. just another weeks gone, and i got no where.

if i took it to a pc shop, they would take it for a week, and charge me a ton, and i would rather find it myself, and take care of it.

i just tried about everything i can think off. :/

im pretty much thinking its a POST problem.

i have checked everything in my pc and they all are/was working fine.

its something to do with the motherboard and unable to post...
and to happen on a new motherboard aswell... is wierd.

anyone... any help...
i buy you a drink if you manage to tell me what is the problem is :)

only thing i can do now.. is wait :/
as i tried everything, what people have sugested and done.

but im still stuck!

thanks for those sugestions, im going to get my uncle to bring his graphics card, just to see if its the same thing.

i will check those things you just mentioned though,

the motherboard is secure with those gold spaces, then the screws fit into it.

the psu i fitted secure in, and seems to be ok. but i will check again.
i cant really test the cpu,

if that was failing, it would beep too... but nothing is, even when i disconnect both memory sticks, no bleeps.

im going to give it another go when my uncle pops over.

could be a earth or short problem,

ill look into it, and post back again :)

ok....

update:::

uncle popped over, with his graphics card, and AMD 3200, skt 939.

put both of them in... nothing, nutta...

same problem, i have tried every single thing inside my pc,
all swapped, changed, even New PSU and New motherboard!

only thing i can think.. is to take the whole thing appart, from scratch, nothing inside case, and work my way up again....

but... really really annoying to do so.

but yep.. none of my things are bust. so i would think my old motherboard is ok, and maybe even the psu... but that had issue's anyway. so probably went.

so... what is the plan now guys??? what do i do?

Wonder what you did wrong in a past life....

Head scratcher tbh mate. It's either the new motherboard isn't working either (did you say you have checked it/ had it working? [thread getting abit long now]). Or some user error in fitting it. If like you say everything is working in your uncles and the motherboard/ psu are new then it must be one of them I would have thought.

Start again and check everything twice.

thanks for sticking with me :)

i know the thread is getting long now, i was going to create a new one, but might aswell keep it all under one roof.

i dont know what i did wrong, all started from when the pc just stopped working, the next day, wouldnt switch on.

yes, the new motherboard came from a dude, who had it in his and used it for gaming and so and so.

so....

i just completely stripped the pc, and all its bits.
started from the begging,

inserted PSU,
inserted motherboard and cpu attached.
inserted 1 stick of memory
inserted graphics card

made sure all leads and everything was connected.
started it up....
nothing else was attached, no harddrives/cdroms,

SAME THING, no POST/bleeps/or display on monitor!

the only thing left... is to take it too a pc shop.
my dads friend will have a look at it, but i will make sure its the basic pc. wont send all my fancy stuff.

i will also tell him just to get it to POST. i can do the rest myself.
(as i dont want to wipe my harddrives)

i have tried so many things... just will not start up bios or anything.

thanks for the replies still :)

yes the motherboard was from thebay but, i trust the seller, and was listed in working condition, even better condition than my old one, i garantee cant be both motherboards gone, its got to be something simple...

well... your going to love this,
i tried again, same thing... thought oh well..

i try my old PSU again in there... only bloody thing goes and works now...
THATS THE old PSU though... NOT THE PC haha,

it still does the same thing with both psu's, two different cpu's,
two different motherboards, two different graphics cards...memory...

list goes on, i wont bore you anymore.

i had enough for today, one thing im going to do though,
is put my old psu, and old motherboard in my old case.

see if that works... if it does. then its a short somewhere, within the case.

i have tried so many things,
i have given up today again,

its been two weeks now since i used it :(

i have a friend coming tomorrow to look at it, but i dont think we get any further.

never have i wanted to look SO MUCH AT THE BLUE SCREEN OF WONDERLAND BEFORE!!!

Dunno what else to say guys, :(

i have a feeling its being short somewhere on my case...

would my pc not post... or sometimes not even power up when you press it, if the motherboard... where it sits in the case, (on spacers), doesnt have washers where the screws is...

i didnt have any when i installed my motherboard a year+ ago, and worked...

would it be shorting, if the motherboard didnt have washers between that and the screw? attaching it to the case...

its either that, or somewhere else.

maybe on the back, where the cpu sits, there is a metal plate... maybe its touching the pc case?

any idea's... if that would cause it to do what its doing?

well...

my other motherboard came last week,
i got it from thebay and he said it was running 2months ago..

well after installing it all, it did the same thing as the last one,
so...

i took it to a pc specialist on saturday, and we went through everything i did.

and he couldnt see anything wrong what i did, by installing it.
i was unsure about the insulation washers that was on the board i bought,

he said you dont need them, and anyway,,,

cut a long story short,

he told me the other motherboard was faulty too, and should try and get my money back... the bloke on ebay wont refund me as he said it was working 2months ago, and i had installed it, and broke it myself...

yet i went to the pc specialist and he said nothing wrong how i did it,
and he would have charged me to do the same.

i even tested outside the pc case... still did it.

basicly.... THEBAY SUCKS! and paypal too..
as i garantee i wont get a refund, paypal never do now.

so im stuck with 2 faulty motherboards and - £200 in the bank,
as i got another PSU and motherboard didnt i...

so he said, best bet is to buy a new motherboard, different model.
hopefullly that will solve your problem of the bios/post issue.

but yea, the bloke on the bay is claiming i installed it wrong, and didnt use washers on the motherboard which broke it :/

when i know for a fact now you dont, and he said read the manual.. it says in there! - BUT IT DOESNT!!!

anyway...
new board comes friday from a very good online retailer.
hopefully will work, and i will send the old one back, since its 3 years garantee.

stupid pc's... cant live with them, cant live without them...

After much experience, some good and some bad, I *always* assume that the item I'm bidding on will either not work or not live up to expectations. It is safe to assume that you won't have an experience equal to that of buying from a decent retailer, so that is what I do. As an extension of that logic, I never pay more than £50 for anything from there now because I just know that the chances are that it won't be worth it.

On the other hand I have had only good experiences with Paypal - on the couple of occasions that the seller has tried something dodgy they have been quick to refund me.

thanks for the reply.

yep, i think i will be taking a break from thebay, and paypal...
really poor they have become for me, and many others.

and with the increase in charges they do all the time, really pointless to sell... id rather do a carboot!

im going to have to just forget about the board i got from there, a mistake i wont make again, i just buy new now.

only good thing i got from there was my dell 2047 in jan, but that was New!
and really good dude,

anyway...
lesson learned. and you get what you pay for as they say.
