Graphics card runs max speed / NO Display.... help!

hello.

well i just got my new psu. Corsair HX 620W
since my old HIPER died..so..
my pc now works yey!.... but...

my problems are..

1st - My graphics card is running at full speed when i turn on the pc. and it will not slow down, like it should after few seconds on boot.

2nd- also my graphics card ATI 1900XTX saphire 512mb, is connected to my dell 2047 monitor. using the DVI cable, but when the pc is on. it just turns the monitor to sleep, i dont get a picture of nothing, when i pull the cable out, then i see no signal... but its all connected... i just dont see anything.

3rd- my XFI - Fata1ity sound card 64mb, has a RED light on the site. im not sure if that means power.. or just for fancy, but it has power going to it. i just never noticed it before?

can anyone help me in this situtation?
im still stuck, and dont want to leave the pc running for long. if my graphics card is spinning at max, and there is no picture on the monitor...

i have got my xbox in the other leave.. the AVI one.
and that works fine, i just switch it over, and lights up...

what is causing it? i checked all cables, and it seems ok...

any thoughts?

thanks for your time.
cheers ;)

What else have u changed since last time it worked, did u just do a straight psu swap? Was it overclocked? Have u cleared the cmos? What are your specs?

all i have changed was the new PSU.

replaced the broken 580w HIPER, with the new 620W Corsair, and new leads.

havnt touched anything else, at the start.
now have taken out all of the others to find the problem.

but the graphics card still spins like mad. no signal to the monitor...

my spec is:::
Tsunami Dream VA3000BWA, Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe S939, 2GB OCZ Dual Channel PC4000, 620W Corsair, 2x Raptor" 10,000RPM 80gig, AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+, Sapphire ATI Radeon X1900 XT-X 512MB GDDR3

oh yea... everything is standard. i dont overclock.
i reset CMOS but still nothing, did battery too

What happened to the hiper did it go bang? Hope it hasnt taken one of your components with it.
Do the other fans cpu and case speed up to full power.

no i had another thread i made with the HIPER problems.

pc just wouldnt turn on, and it was the PSU.
nothing went bang or anything, it just wouldnt turn on the next day :/

yes the cmos is cleared, it was cleared in the last one, as my battery died so it never saved the bios.

i replaced battery, but i cant see the bios, as i dont have a picture on screen, monitor is fine as its playing the xbox 360 fine.

graphics card is just running max speed, all the time :/

It does sound like a power problem the board is getting power cos your xfis light is on.
Just double check the 24 pin, 4 pin and graphics card power connectors make sure ther in correctly in the board and in the modular end of the power supply.

i will double check it all again on the leads.

there is a 24pin one a 4 pin, and a 6 pin, which i dont need for my motherboard.

so im using the 24pin and 4pin on the motherboard,
and another lead for the PCI which is all in,

Try reseating the graphics card if that dosnt work it might be an idea to take out the motherboard and see if anythings shorting the board out, then rebuild with bare minimum eg 1 stick of ram etc

Have you connected the power to your graphics card? you said you have connected the motherboard power but not the graphics power?

read it again, you'll find everything connected as it should be.

im not that silly not to connect power to the PCI card,

i just not experienced enough to know why, my graphics card is running at full pelt and no signal coming out of the monitor... it just says going to sleep.

im going to try again tomorrow when its lighter.

its just really wierd.. :/

Believe me, everyone - without fail - does this or something very similar. No-one is patronising you.

I'm assuming that you don't have another PC around that you can try the card in?

the graphics card was fine, nothing was wrong with it before hand.

i may take it all appart again, and place back it in slowly.
like e.g the motherboard. harddrives, and so on...

im going to google some more this morning before i attempt it.

but last night i did take out the cmos battery, and changed the jumper over, so reset it all. so i try that again this morning.

ok i just took the CPU and heatsink off.

now i need to clean it, and apply thermal paste (my artic silver)

what do i use to clean the old one off with?

... To optimally clean the surface use ArctiClean steps 1 and 2 or adequately by using a low residual solvent (high-purity isopropyl alcohol)...

so whats that?
i need to clean both the cpu and heatsink,

i got a couple of guides downloaded. but not sure what the isopropyl alcohol is... :/

Nail varnish remover will work but will leave a very light residue when it dries.
I used to use lighter fluid which probably does the same, but it's no big deal really. It will make fractions of a degree difference.

In fact I can't even be bothered using the lighter fluid any more, I just use an old rag.
I wouldn't bother spending any cash on dedicated products unless I was going for a world record overclock.
