Hi guys wonder if some one could help.

I've just recently build a pc ready for BF4. Specs are as follows :
AMD-FX 9590, Zalman LQ320 Ult LiquidCPUCool, Asus Crosshair Formula-Z Motherboard, Corsair 2x8GB VENG PRO 2133. Asus HD 7970 Direct CUII TOP.

As mentioned the system keeps turning off after about 15 - 20 mins gaming in BF4. Temps on idel for cpu are around 10 - 17oc on CPU in BlackBox of CPU-Z. The reason I posted in here is because on CPU-Z not much info comes up regarding Graphics card I will include screenshots. Also what program can I use to logg temp etc So I can find out when the system shuts down.

As you can see from screenshot not temp on GPU screen.

I had a problem with my PC restarting within the first 30 minutes of being powered on. Once it rebooted it was fine for the rest of the day. I was convinced it was the motherboard but it turned out to be my brand new Corsair 650w PSU.

None for AMD.
The temperatures it reports are largely nonsense.

Clock it down a little, see if it copes.
I wouldn't keep the CPU personally, save a 100 quid and downgrade to an fx8320.

Could very much be the case, corsair aren't what they once were.
It'd be my next port of call.

I've just banged in another case fan on the window directly above cpu u cooler and just managed to play BF for 20 odd mins. Might just be running hot. Played it windowed and and had Blackbox running Each core got to about 28 - 29oc.

Is it normal though not to have much GPU info in both them programs on the screen shots ?

A 4.7Ghz and a 7970 are going to suck up the juice!!

Your CPU would just underclock instead of crashing.

Try a less demanding game or turn v-sync on and see if that makes a difference.

them temps in the screen shots are the core temps ?, isnt it the socket temp you need to be looking at ?

it does sound like its over heating to me.

have you tried with the side panel off ?
maybe a defect cpu ? (dont want to worry you :D ) but can happen.
maybe it is your PSU.. i mean, that CPU, with that card, and the rest of it, there's not going to be much left on the PSU surley...

PSU or CPU overheat.

use speedfan while you try to play BF4 and see whats the temp after 15 mins.

Also the FX 9590 just stock needs around 240W, with memory and the 7970 TOP you need around 500W.

If you add fans, coolers, dvd-rw, and couple USB devices the 650W psu is too small I am afraid.

Use http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine to calculate your power needs.

But check the cpu temps first.

Cooling didn't fix my problem :( Probably thinking your right Panos. should have thought about this one a little more lol.

There's no way a 7970 needs 500W, even overclocked. If that was the case I would need a 1500W psu for my setup. In my opinion, 650W is enough for your setup. Sounds like a temperature issue to me.

I do not mean the 7970 needs 500W on it's own, but with the 9590 also.
An oc 7970 needs around 230W-250W on it's own. + 240W from the CPU, + RAM and need for 500W is there.

Most likely cause of a pc completely turning itself off when playing a demanding game would be either heat or PSU. As it looks like you have temps under control i would have thought it has to be PSU. As someone has pointed out, 650w might be pushing it with your system. The CPU and GPU you have are pretty power hungry!
