PC Upgrade and Price Estimate of old rig

You would be better off building your own :) Then you get to choose the components.

Do you have a budget in mind ? Also do you need any peripherals or do you just need the tower ? I presume you need an operating system too ?

Oh and welcome to ocuk :D

I have previously built my own and upgraded it yeah, but honestly if there isn't much of a price difference then I fancy buying prebuilt for the 2 years warranty and less hassle in actually putting the thing together!

And I've already got all of my peripherals so I'm good to go in that respect, and I can get a copy of Windows 8 or Windows 7 for free through my University with their Student Programme.

Warranty on individual components are usually better and a PC put together with your needs in mind will work out far more balanced for your uses if not cheaper.

Is it for gaming?

What resolution?

Also the premium for a 4gb 760 is not worth it.

Also what is the total budget?

^
This is where i would spend my money if i had £1000 budget. It features an SSD and a 280x over your pre-built linked. Threw some cables in there and nice red LED decorated ram for more bling. 280x has more grunt and sports 3gb of Vram, which is more than you will need for a long time.

Thanks for your feedback guys! I'll look into some more builds over the next few weeks as I'm in no rush to upgrade atm :)

Also my budget is probably no more than £1000 and I'm running at 1920x1080.

For that sort of budget you should be able to get a 290/i5 4670K setup.

Well by my calculations if I use my current Hard Drives that I have now, I also have access to free Windows 8 and Windows 7 via my Student Programme I could cut that price down to £828.48.

I might even just upgrade the motherboard, GPU and CPU, which would cut costs down even more which would bring it to about £579.97.

Do you guys think that would be worth it? As I already have a Case, RAM, HDDs and a H80i.

In that case a new motherboard, GPU and CPU does seem the best option.

I have a CoolerMaster StormTrooper and 8GB of Kingston HyperX DDR3.

I'm mainly looking into all of my options for Graphics cards at this point, it seems that the i5 4670k and the Z87 is the way forward. I'm interested in going Nvidia but I suppose in order to actually have a good card I'd have to go 780 or above?

Is yours the windowed or non windowed Storm Trooper ? Just so we know whether to colour coordinate or not :D

YOUR BASKET
1 x CM Storm Trooper Full Tower Gaming Case - Black £129.95
1 x CM Storm Trooper Full Tower Gaming Windowed Case - Black £124.99
Total : £269.64 (includes shipping : £12.25).

Also what colour is the Ram ? As Kingston do the Grey, Black and Blue Hyper Ram

I've got a GTX770 2GB and I'm more than happy with it. Plays games at 1080p maxed out fine. If you want multi-monitor support you're best off either going for the 4GB version or looking into a GTX 780. If you're on a budget then getting a 770 wouldn't be an issue to me.

I have the non windowed case, I had no idea they did a windowed version as I would've bought that!! What a shame, brilliant case though I'd really recommend it. My HyperX Ram is blue so it's probably a good thing it's not windowed as I have a cheeky little red theme going on with my LEDs, Razer Naga Molten and Microsoft Sidewinder X4 :P
