Hi All,

Need help with my computer upgrade, I have been going strong for 3 years now and have decided to upgrade :p

My current specs are:

FX-4100 @ 3.6Ghz
MSI 990FX GD80
AMD HD 6950 Direct CU II
XFX Pro 850W 80 Plus Bronze

I am not sure whether to get a HD 7970 Direct CU II Top/Matrix Plus a FX 8320 or just get a HD 7990.

I am NOT considering Nvidia so please leave that out of the dicussion.

Thank you :)

P.S I want this system to last 3 years minimum like my current system or even longer :p

what do you use the system for, and what sort of budget do you have ?

maybe go for the AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8350 Black Edition over the updated gfx, as amd is due a new release out soon.

There's no point in upgrading your GPU really unless you also upgrade the CPU. The 8320 will run fine on your board, so that's the best idea. Get a decent cooler if you don't have one, so you can overclock it to over 4GHz. If you go for the 7970, get the MSI Twin Frozr as it's so cheap at the moment, though if you want it to last for as long as possible I'd wait for the new GPUs next month.
