If you're using a discrete card then you're generally better off with Intel. I'm very sad to say that AMD aren't brining much to the table these days :(

Is there any particular reason you've gone micro ATX other than price?

In your position you might want to consider an i3-2120 instead, along with an H61 board.

went mATX as that is what i have inside my case already.

+ I am already familiar with AMD, and the way their architecture/motherboards work etc etc (i understand how compatible they are more-so than Intel Stuffs).

Plus i've heard that Intel CPU's are more expensive for the same performance of AMD :).

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i3-2120 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £97.99
1 x Gigabyte H61MA-D3V Intel H61 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £47.99
1 x Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00CEU) £33.59
Total : £190.97 (includes shipping : £9.50).

  • Are all your drives SATA?
  • Do you have a 64bit OS for the 8GB of RAM?
  • This is better than that AMD CPU and cheaper :p

Look how it does against the far more expensive 8150:
