I would like to point out that you have purchased an xbox 360... So you are still going to be playing on it in 2010.... Following that logic, why didn't you carry on playing on your xbox instead... As im sure in 2010, a new xbox will be out...

Following what logic exactly? Have you given up trying to make valid points to the extent that you're now Mystic Meg and forecasting the future? :)

I'll probably be on the PC although a huge part of me hopes that by then I've better things to do or more profitable ones ;) I've no idea what I'll be playing by then but it's unlikely I'd go back to PC gaming the way I was, I could buy a new PC but then I'd be faced with the upgrades, patching, drivers etc. I fix computers all day I don't want to do it when I go home just to get games working!

You never know though perhaps Vista and gaming will change over the next few years. The line between console and PC could be blurred dramatically if MS simply released mouse and keyboard support for the 360, you can already use a USB keyboard for simple tasks and as unlikely as it is to happen with MS you really can't rule it out! :D

Of course, everyone else is also making unsubstantiated claims. If you cant beat em join em.... Anyone want to know the results of the 2010 grand national... get em here while theyre hot.

Anyway, go see post #100

Well put Yewen!

I to love my FPS on the PC, I enjoy BF2 on the Xbox 360 but I'd much rather be using keyboard and mouse for it. But then again PGR, Dead Rising, Fight Night 3 etc are excellent and even if they were available on the PC I think they'd work better on the 360. I personally think Test Drive Unlimited will actually be better on the Xbox 360 than the PC version for various reasons, the interface works brilliantly with the 360 controller and I love knowing that people aren't trying to hack the saved games.

The console controler can not be used as a plus as for a long time joypads have been available on the PC. I use a 360 pad for my PC.

I also have a PS2 Xbox and PSP. I will be getting a 360 & PS3 but software as a priority order for me.
If game is avail for pc/xbox/ps2 i will always get the pc version, if not then xbox if not, then ps2.
Nextgen pc/ps3/360 priority order.

Heres a few interesting points by a Mr Peter Moore, from Microsoft.

When you look at ideal Xbox consumer, who is that person?
Moore: He is a male. He is connected. He is very, very used to going online for community. He's probably played PC games online. He's part of a "Halo 2" clan and has been for two years. That comes from him playing "Halo" in college--so he's 23 or 24--with his buddies. He still loves to go out on a Wednesday night with them, even though they're spread all around the U.S. But they all come together Wednesday night to relive the days in the dorm room.

What else does he want?
Moore: He also expects instant gratification, the delivery of game demos to his hard drive via his broadband network. And he's popular enough to have his profile online and he's pretty competitive, so he loves (Xbox game) achievements. He'll stay up all night to get achievements in games that his buddies have because it just ****** him off that they've got them first. He also would rather starve to death than not have a high-definition TV. He'll go without food rather than have a standard-def 27-inch TV.

And with an attitude like Peter Moore, who says his ideal xbox owner is someone who would rather starve than go without a HiDef Tv when he is about launch the 360 in India, when half the children in that coutnry are underweight. If you want to be one of Peter Moore's minions, be my guest.. My moneys elsewhere, I would rather spend my money with a company who are not as patronising...

I think you missed the point there, the games will be released for 5 years for the console, all of which will work. A top end PC has a life of around 3 years for all titles, so the 360 would outlive it.

(Going by 2400xp, GF4 Ti4800 being out of date now, but the Xbox still getting new titles. I could do a more extreme example using the GF2 and GF3 cards.)

Okay, Peter Moore is obviously quite insane and has no respect for the people he's trying to sell to. :o

I think he's being rather honest there, as they really are the ideal customers, the loyal fanboy perfectionists, those that spend all their time using the xbox services and buying all their games.

Of course that's what his ideal customer would be, as that way they'd probably make the most money, but I'm pretty sure he knows that it's going to be bought by a hell of a lot more people over quite a variety of lifestyles.

I dont care Yewen. I wont be buying a 360 because

1. I will always have the latest DirectX in my PC.
2. I dont like Peter Moore.
3. I replace my parts in my PC every 2 years.

So nah-nah-na-na-nah-nah :p

Exactly, so why are people buying xbox 360's when they are still releasing games for the xbox.....

Because you can't get the games they want on the Xbox. Simple.

I can't be bothered to keep upgrading my PC to play games, it's too much hassle, Xbox 360 + Widescreen Monitor cost me £320 :)

I can play FPS games fine, I've been playing First Person games since 1996 (Quake II, even played for the UK) and it's not bad once you get to grips with it (which took a couple of minutes), multiplayer is annoying but I need to adjust sensitivities.

I just kept getting fed up of adjusting settings of PC games, to get them semi fast / working. With Xbox 360 it's put a game in, and play it, no problems no messing around and they'll be semi-optimised for that console, rather than a generic console.

Tipping point was when Hitman came out, the demo wouldn't run on my computer (kept crashing, was slow when it eventually did run), priced up a new computer came to about £600, Xbox 360 was cheaper alternative and I can get the new monitor as well.

a. xbox released march 2002
b. xbox 360 released december 2005

So thats 3 years of a console, which you can now pick up for about £20.
And already you cant buy games you want for it...

So Yewen, seems like DaveyD reckons your 5 year plan is a bit optimistic. You cant get the games you want for the xbox anymore... A full year short of the 5 you said...

Now then, in about 3 years from now... I think we will be hear arguing the same thing....

Except in that time, I will have kept right on the bleeding edge of technology... Its where I like it... Mmmm Mmmmmmmm.

Good enough reason for me not to buy an xbox, even if it isnt for you.

Look at like this. An car engine, is a car engine, is it not. Say I have a Ford Engine (Direct X) in my PC. If I wanted a second car, I personally wouldnt want a another ford (Xbox360) as the car I have equals or surpasses it.

Now if I want a different drive all together, I will go out and buy maybe a mazda (Wii), or a vauxhall (DS lite), or a volkswagen (PS3). Because its a different company, its a different engine, and its a completely different ride... I hope this explains my POV... Humble as it is ...

Let me try and explain why this is just nonsence.

A honda civic type-r has the same engine as a Ariel Atom. Its what all the other bits(games) do that defines the experience.

It's closer to 4 years than 3 years, and the Xbox is still getting releases today, and will be into next year, so will be well into its 4th year, so note quite 5 years, but certainly more than 3.

Anyway, I can't afford to keep on the "bleeding edge of technology", and I'm going to be happy with my 360 for a long time. This thread really isn't going to get anywhere, they never, ever do, as the just turn into silly, petty arguments, and nobody will agree to disagree.

Its an anology... There are no anologies that are perfect... Its to highlight a point, not describe the meaning of life, the universe and everything...

That happens to be 42...

And as you now know the meaning of life, the universe and everything, there should be no more questions. ok.

Your arguing against yourself here, my friend... Have you tried the phone number thingy? Its cool... Or, even better go have a nice cup of tea and a sit down.

lol damn, to keep on the bleeding edge of PC technology for the next 3 years is gonna cost a pretty penny.

just for that alone im more than happy to stick with the 360 with its "old tech" and my avergae spec PC for them 3 years (lol by then i might have actually migrated to pci-e) :)

I'm not contradicting myself at all. I didn't say that the games coming out were going to be amazing, or that it's going to last another year. I said the Xbox will last into its 4th year. It sound like you're reading into my comments wrongly.

The point, yes, people are buying Xbox 360s for the reason of games that are out that will not come out on their now reasonably dated Xboxes, but there are those people that can not afford to just buy a new console, and will go for games that are still coming out for the console that they still have.
