PC vs 360

Let people choose what they want to do and be happy with it.

At least with a console you aren't being TOLD that your hardware is now the worst thing ever made by human, and cant play that new spanky game thats out the month after you just bought your obsolete piece of kit.

Developers for consoles usually take a good few years to start code-ing properly (getting full potential from the consoles), where as IMO pc hardware development (teams/companies) seem to force us into having crap we dont need on ever more expensive products, tell us we need them, so, yes we must go buy them.

Also, I'm moving over to a 360, ive never really been on the bleeding edge of hardware (cant afford it to be honest), and after spending 3 months trying to solve a simple problem on this nice pile of 600quid scrap metal-in-a-box-pc I'm getting tired of wasting time and good money to play a few games :/

I'd rather sit back and play hexicHD ( :P) allday on my second crt aswell as having my pc running msn and doing some webdesign. Suits my life perfectly atm. :)

I'm not contradicting myself at all. I didn't say that the games coming out were going to be amazing, or that it's going to last another year. I said the Xbox will last into its 4th year. It sound like you're reading into my comments wrongly.

Not at all. You said that you cant get the games for the xbox you want anymore... So whats the point in owning that console if you cant get the games for it?

Arguing with me that "games are still being released for it" on one hand, and then aruging with me "that you cant get the games you want for it" on the other hand isnt going to win me over...

There are more than one camp of people, as I said. There's always going to be games you want but you can't have, nomatter what system you have.

Games are still being released yes, I never said that they're all going to be super must have games, but there's going to be some good games out there that aren't going to be released. Again, though the Xbox is going out of its lifecycle, it's still getting games for it, allowing those that can not make the jump yet, even though there are lots of games they want to get on the 360, or whatever next generation console it might be.

PC wins hands down... And thats my final comment... I aint saying another thing until my brief arrives

We'll have to agree to disagree like I said a while back, as it's never, ever that simple.

I still don't understand why people say this, my entire system costed £800 with monitor and speakers included. My mate bought an Xbox 360 and a 720p LCDTV for it and it costed... £800. The difference being he can't use a mouse, keyboard, or anisotropic filtering and I can (and a lot of non-game related stuff.)

He could have just used a PC monitor... the LCD HDTV has nothing to do with that price at all. He can also use his TV for connecting to a PC, watching TV, watching DVD's and playing games on.

You can't compare those 2 things.

Hmmm... xBox 360.... Hmmm. Microsoft.... Hmmm, Direct X in a box... No thanks, I have a PC already with Direct X... I wouldn't dream of buying an xbox 360, when I already have one tucked away in my PC already...

Now if you said PC vs PS3, then thats a different kettle of fish all together.

Windows XP, Vista - Made by Microsoft. Played on Direct X
X-Box, X-Box 360 - Made by Microsoft. Played on Direct X (or variation)

Playstation - Made by Sony...
What an absolute load of *******.
The Xbox360 and the PS3 aren't a million miles away, so why should the PS3 be totally different from the PC?
You talk absolute rubbish.

And as for the PS3 being made by Sony? Not really... Sony didn't make the parts...

Last I checked, PC monitors weren't free either. My PC does TV-out, doesn't mean I have free display.

a. xbox released march 2002
b. xbox 360 released december 2005

So thats 3 years of a console, which you can now pick up for about £20.
And already you cant buy games you want for it...

So Yewen, seems like DaveyD reckons your 5 year plan is a bit optimistic. You cant get the games you want for the xbox anymore... A full year short of the 5 you said...
Problem is the Xbox was a late competitor towards the Playstation 2 (March 2000 I believe was the PS2 release date)

I'd say four-five years is correct, considering the PS2 release date and titles. The Xbox came two years after the Playstation 2, considering that lasted three years, you could easily argue five years for a console.

Fine, you can't get the games you want for the Xbox, but you can for the 360, the release of the 360 obviously moves developers away from the Xbox towards the 360. I do predict the 360 will last up until 2009 (as I don't see any major new console releases out till the turn of the decade, so probably Christmas 2010). That's five years, but if I'm wrong, please feel free to quote me in the meantime and laugh.

Again, when I was a "Student" - messing around with Computers and getting latest hardware wasn't too much of a problem, as a working man, the few hours or so which I might get to actually do anything fun, it needs to be put disk in, play... not put disk in, wait for 30 minutes for it to install, play.

When I look at your sig, it tells me everything I need to know about you. Your one of Peter Moores mindless drones.

No, the xbox360 and the PS3 are from this planet, so of course they are not a million miles away. What are you talking about?? Do you think they are made on the moon or something...

Microsoft didnt make the parts either, so whats your point?

Why is that you cant accept that I find the xbox360 too similar to a PC, and would rather buy a wii or PS3. Without you saying that I talk rubbish. Go away little man.

See post #100 for more information.....

This is getting to petty namecalling and finger pointing now, and that post #100 is silly just stupid.

The whole point of the thread was questioning the performance and characteristics of the 360 compared to a PC and games development ans a whole, and has gone on a total tangent now. And I think that's where you seem to have gone astray, for this thread at least, when saying the PS3 is so much different in comparing it to the PC than an Xbox 360.

*another break from the norm*
I can announce the winner of this thread :p to see the results go to here:

Gandalf501 v DaveyD

I think it's fairly accurate, but I might have slipped the ref a few quid that I had left over now I don't have to update my PC constantly ;)

havent read the whole thread

but i say xbox 360, ive had both and would choose the 360

great for social gaming, especially at uni

although i am being forced to play pro evo and not my beloved fifa:( lol

anyhoo if your a casual gamer, get a 360, if you want to be hunched over a desk, get a pc
