Peaceful, immersive game with beautiful graphics ?

Mafia 2. Dont do any of the gangstery crap. Just wander around a beautiful city, have a look in a few shops, take a stroll through a snow drenched park and watch the people walk past as time passes by, go to a bar and have a nice drink, get a car and take a casual drive next to the harbour, beat up a tramp, stand next to the pier and watch the reflections in the water.
Haha.. so basically like going outside then. Minus the tramp beating perhaps.

I havent installed anno yet as I have been spanking Crysis hard for the last 3 days but I'll be sure to give some of the others a go at some point.

Any feedback on Anno yet? Not sure it's my type of game, so will be interesting to read a non-strategy gamers oppinion of it.

I enjoyed it 1404 and Venice but I wouldn't call them peaceful later on. They are however great if you enjoy Micro and they look stunning.

I'm with the two people who said Mafia 2 and GTA IV. Just driving slowly in the traffic and walking about like you are just a normal person in the big city is great.

Once you get a hang of it or if you choose no opponents (and turn pirate things off), you can avoid combat completely. They wont attack you if you are the bigger civilization and it's easy to keep peace with trades. So when you can do everything quickly, choose opponents. I still got my 'single' save game that I have put hours into and still got loads left to do as well. But I try to make the cities look pretty and stuff :)

I wouldn't say I'm a non strategy gamer. The first games I ever got into were Theme Park and the command and conquer series, Total Annihilation, Total War, AOE. I can honestly say though Anno 1404 is one of the best games I've played in a long time, it's a true masterpiece. Gorgeous graphics, immersive gameplay, engaging charachters and a great soundtrack. I havent played it as much as I'd like but it's a game that you could lose yourself in for a few hours easily. Well worth the money ;)

I lost 60+ hours in one week into Anno 1404.

I've had too much other stuff to play after that, but nothing else has gotten that many hours put into it in a single week.

I simply couldnt stop playing Anno 1404 once I started.

Just Cause 2 (you don't have to blow everything up).

Beautiful game world, lush tropical areas, snowcapped mountains and rivers and ocean. Driving, flying etc. around the game is lovely.
