Peaceful, immersive game with beautiful graphics ?

Started playing minecraft yesterday, and i think its really immersive. Yes to even beautiful graphics but not raw visuals, but pure imagination...

worth a try saying that the old client is now freely available for anyone to play with.

Please don't temp me. My gf barely sees me in the evening as it is :D

The alpha is totally nonsense the beta is meant to be decent. I wouldnt buy it going on the alpha play.

Tried out the Hunter after someone mentioned it earlier in this thread. Nice and peaceful up to the point where you pull the trigger of the rifle :p
Good looking game too.

I've also been on the lookout for some new games like this...
Which one would you recommend? Anno 1404 or Tropico 3, they both look good and i'd like to download one of them.
I only have experience of the latter, I found there was a lack of complexity to the interface, I think this is intended to emphasise the "hands off" gameplay, the citizens look after themselves if you set things up correctly.

Aion is very pretty, and very serene when you're gliding around. Don't like the actual game itself much, but it's certainly got the eye candy. LOTRO, as mentioned earlier, is also gorgeous, especially the shire :

Someone mentioned the myst, while its 1st person its essentially point and click.

Loved the games back in the day but look incredibly dated.

Recently bought the box set which includes all the games and played through the 1st 3, word of warning a right pita to get running.

Myst is probably the style of game your after just a more modern version.

You may try some of the artsy indie games. Machinarium is beautifull, loved it and a new game called drawn looks interesting though don't have it yet.

best suggestion i can think of is X3 terran conflict, it looks incredible, don't have to battle your way through the game, even the music is soothing! :D

X3 is a definite suggestion, and going through this thread is making me install FSX again. Forgot how fun it is just flying around.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I bought Mafia II, Crysis and Anno 1404 and I have been blown away. How have I managed to avoid Crysis for so long ?, such an epic game ! Oh I remember, because I was running a P4/7600gt system before that could barely run Pacman.

I was totally gobsmacked by the textures, water detail and physical effects like leaves and branches swaying and objects moving with the current in Crysis. I snuck up on 3 enemy soldiers, stealth killed them all and then quietly watched in awe as their lifeless bodies sunk and slowly got swept downstream, AWESOME ! haha

Mafia II is beautiful to look at and incredibly atmospheric, great suggestion.

I havent installed anno yet as I have been spanking Crysis hard for the last 3 days but I'll be sure to give some of the others a go at some point.

Gothic 4 Arcania is apparently very beautiful to explore, gameplay ok for some but not for others, might be worth trying out the demo.

The Hunter is quite peaceful - providing you don't shoot any of the wildlife haha

I tried this out last night and was impressed. The GFX and sound effects are really top notch and I even managed to bag a couple of female deer I found. :D

The only thing I don't like the look of is those micro transactions at the hunter store, i'm not keen on that type of business model.

A game that I always come back to if I want to relax a bit is X3 Terran Conflict.

It does take some time to get into but I find it perfect for chilling out. You can run your own trading operations if you watch the prices of products carefully etc. Of course you can fight but you don't have to at all. It really is worth checking out but be warned - I lost so many hours of my life on that game it should be banned :D
