Pearl Jam

Ten and Vs are both awesome albums, as is their MTV Unplugged album, I saw them live in 1992 at Newcastle Riverside when I was 17, makes me feel old.
My flat mates saw Nirvana there in '89 as a support act. Can't remeber where I was that night but the guy I still know from that time still dines out on that gig.

Good venue, though. Saw RHCP on the Mothers Milk tour there around the same time.

I don't mind Pearl Jam, but I think that is exactly it, they are ok.

I've never been in a moment and thought, let's put some Pearl Jam on, whilst at the same time if a song of theirs comes on I will enjoy it

I reckon they are one of those bands though where you'll know more of their stuff than you think you do.

I've had a bit of a deep dive into a couple of the albums suggested by other posters.

I was wrong in my OP, I already knew Even Flow - just couldn't name the band.

I think I may have heard some of their other stuff in the past and it maybe just didn't register - their songs may not hit you first few times you hear them - they grow on you; which is a good thing IMO.

But yeah, 10 is a good album with some great numbers - particularly like the guitar solo that closes out Alive.

Ahh that must have been amazing! That was definitely my favourite era for them (before John lost the plot and sucked all the fun out of the band).
Yes, a lot more so than when I saw them at Rock in Rio in 2001 - they didn't do any numbers off Mother Milk at all and only 2 off BSSM. Other than Flea, they didn't seem like they wanted to be there.

It wasn't my scene, too soft for me at the time.
I was all Slayer, Megadeth, Testament etc at the time so all that Grunge went over my head.
Perhaps I should revisit the scene.

Same. But I do like some of Pearl Jams big hits.
I do find myself going back to revisit grunge and Seattle lately. Exploring the genre.

I actually prefer the Vitalogy album out of everything I've listened too. Some slightly more raw, ballsier tracks along with a few quite quirky tunes too. Prefer the vocals too on those heavier numbers.

A weird mix of grunge and ambient Ozric tentacles LSD infused weirdness was my 15-19 life :p

Smashing pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, STP. Alice in chains :p lol

My favourite album was probably Vs. But Ten is just iconic too. Not a single bad track I can remember.

They still pop up on my Spotify playlist now and then. A blast of "Jeremy spoke in classsss toooodddday" gets me singing along much to the amusement of my Swedish colleagues.
