US: Penny Dreadful.

It's ridiculous, every season including the latest she's had at least one scene that wows you that is Emmy worthy.

She really knocked it out of the park with "a blade of grass", the episode in the mental asylum, an incredible performance....

and yet Maisie Williams, Kit Harrington and Emillia Clarke were nominated amongst the 23 nominations picked up by Game of Thrones. Apparently the Emmys are merely a popularity contest.

Completely agree. I love Game of Thrones but Eva Greens acting throughout Penny Dreadful and especially in Blade of Grass was on another level. Ridiculous and shows how worthless such awards are.

Started watching this recently, and Eva is fantastic in it. It's a shame she did not get recognition for her work by the Emmys three years running, but alas it's not a surprise really. On the Emmy Wiki page it says 'awarded for excellence in the television industry'. What a joke. In agreement with above posts, nothing more than a popularity contest.

I envy you if you have only just started watching it, it gets better and better as it goes along. Eva Green will have done no harm to her CV with her astonishing performances throughout PD, she's proved that she's up there with the very best of the best when it comes to acting ability.

I think he's full of it and basically saying what he's been told to say given he has other Showtime projects.

As mentioned the show was clearly setting up the next story lines with Lord Hyde and Lyle's trip to Egypt.

Real shame but nothing new these days sadly.

Certainly doesn't ring true to me. if he'd planned to end it then, the series would have been "finished" not "cancelled".

A little late to the party here but finally finished this off last night (had it on blu ray since last Christmas!).
Reading the comments here does little to improve my feelings towards the final episode regardless of whether it was cancelled mid flow. Utter let down and anticlimax to a fantastic series. Genuinely couldn't wait for it to end it was that bad!
Eva truly deserves some recognition for this though as others have said "Blade of grass" was pretty much watching one person for an hour and it felt like 20minutes!
