Penryn

Isnt Wolfdale the name for the Desktop 45nm 'Core' processor. Last I heard it had 6Meg L2 cache, 1333fsb, and intel are hoping it will scale up to 4ghz. Also it uses less power, with a 57 watt TDP. It also contains PNI (Penryn new instructions), and some re'optimizations in its decoders/pipeline to make it more efficient.

Conroe was available to the 'general' public before Merom, and no doubt Wolfdale will be out before Penryn.

But honestly, why be so picky... even intels own roadmaps are labeled 'Penryn family' encompasing mobile, desktop and server versions, even though the indevidual chips have their own unique codenames.

Wolfdale (Dual) and Yorkfield (Quad) are the desktop variants of the Penryn die shrink that has happened to the mobile chips.
