I'm currently considering upgrading my rig (see sig).

I have read reports about the Pentium D 805 running at 4.1Ghz overclocked but reading posts on this board it seems 3.6-3.8Ghz is the best to overclock to on air.

What other equipment would you suggest?

What Mobo, Ram, Graphics Card?

I don't want to be spending a lot tbh (£300-£400) as if i'm looking at £600 i'll go for an AMD.

Would you say the overclock and performance increase is worthwhile or is best to go for AMD?

I've currently got a 400W PSU. Need a new one?

I guess you can still use the case/dvd/HD from your current PC?

Also what PSU do you have?

Thats a nice spec, and the 805s are a bargain, but from what I've seen they run HOT so you might want to invest in an aftermarket cooler, like the AC Freezer 7.

Erm not sure on the make but it's 450W.

I want to try and keep as much of my current kit as possible! :)

Is that Nvidia card you listed better than the 256Mb X850XT?

Its probably about the same, maybe a little slower at stock. But is supports SM3.0, runs a lot cooler than the X850XT, doesn't need an external power connector and clocks very nicely indeed (it will outperform an overclocked X850XT).

Failing that there are some amazing second hand bargains in the MM at the moment.

It's basically this :- Zalman CNPS9500-AT v Thermaltake Big Typhoon 4 in 1

Much difference?

What speed can I get up to on stock cooling? I've got a Coolermaster Tower with two 120MM Case Fans.

Big Typhoon is the better, is lighter too. I'd be dubious about pushing it too far on stock cooling, these things put out lots of heat.

The make is in important, if its a decent brand then you won't need to upgrade, if its Qtec I'll slap you around until you buy a new one.

It's not them, I think it's Antec.

It's a few years old, and never had any trouble. My brothers had 3 Qtec's in his already :D

So whats the best graphics card i'm looking at in my £400 budget? The Nvida 256Mb 7600 if I don't need a new PSU? My PC struggles to play COD2 maxed out and i've had this thing for 3 years now!! Time for a change :p

Antec make solid PSUs, that would probably do your new system fine (though it'd only be 20pin, you'd have to check the mobo is alright with a 20 pin as opposed to a 24pin ATX connector).

Is it 450 or 400 watts? You've mentioned both.

If you don't need a PSU you'd have around £200 to spend on graphics, that gets you into x1800xt 256mb or 7900GT territory, put then these cards need a lot of power (especially the x1800xt).

I have a feeling it's 400 Watt. Deff not lower than 400 Watt.

3.7 on mine with stock cooling :D

Is it 24pin? also could you check the 12v rails see what they are rated

If you need a new PSU the 7600GT is a good choice and overclocks very well, if you dont then I would get 2gb of ram and the 7600GT :p theres really arent any better cards in your price range bar the x1800xt 256mb but that uses more power which would mean needing a new PSU (vicious circle :p)

I personally use a 430w Seasonic with mine and it seems perfectly stable with my x800gto so that might be another option but the Hiper should give you more room to upgrade later on.

Exactly what I was thinking :D

The PSU won't be 24pin by the sounds of it.

So with that spec there, would it run most of the latest games maxed out at 1280x1024?

Are these systems easy to build, built a few before but just wondering if there is anything I should look out for :)

You'd be pushing it in some games if you want lots of AF and AA, Oblivion for instance can trouble an x1900xtx, not so much at that resolution, but its a real beast to run.

Is the Ram in mine no good? Just for a short while until I can afford 2Gb....... :)

Apparently the Nforce boards aren't wonderful.......this true?

Should be fine if it overclocks to DDR2-800 speed at reasonable timings.

Edit: Apparently the Nforce4 Intel Edition doesnt support the 9xx CPUs, at least according to Asus's support site.
