People out on the town/going out, doing something.

u wot m8?

Not just at raves, it seems more prevalent in general life. I had to kick a chippy out of my house as he turned up to do some work off his face on coke.

Taking my 13 year old to watch league 1 football, I wouldn't be surprised if every adult there under the age of 25 is coked up to the eyeballs. They certainly act very erratically. World away from when I used to go regularly in the mid 90's.

Unfortunately it's rife and I would argue it's big amongst the 40 and 50 year olds as well!

Closest I get to a big night out now is a monthly dinner with my best mate, even then we're usually home by 10.30 lol, saying that though my sister is turning 50 at the end of the month, so we're doing Cocktails and dinner at a cool Mexican Restaurant in Cork on the Friday and then a party on the Saturday night.

Going out tonight with some old work colleagues from the place I left last June so looking for a bit of catch up. My village has had a micro pub and a gin/cocktail bar open in the last year so we're going to try those - result for me as walking distance from home. Haven't had an alcoholic drink in over a year so will need to take it easy!

Used to go out a lot years ago. Liverpool was great as well as Warrington for good night out. How times have changed. Stopped drinking a while ago also. I travel often to Spain now to see my Partner, we get out a lot, cinemas (yep in Spanish) Good food etc..

good luck

I reckon when I was a regular weekend raver about 25 years ago about 5% of the people out were off their face on coke, these days its at the very least 50%. Makes for a more tense atmosphere than a jovial boozy night out I've found.
24 hr licensing did this.
In our town we had 3 big clubs holding a couple thousand people. If you weren't in there by 10pm you had to queue and pay. If you weren't in the pre club pubs by 8pm it was a squeeze. Policing was much easier as everyone got kicked out at 2pm. town/Kebab shops dead by 3pm.

Now, people don't go out until midnight, and party until 6pm then dont see the next day. All coked up. The police have to be around for much longer meaning not as many are actually on the street.

The change in licensing hit the hospitality sector far more than the cigarette ban

I'm out on the town tomorrow actually, for the Six Nations games.

No braces.

I don't do nights out anymore, Can't remember the last time TBH. It used to be black tie functions, those have been knocked on the head due to cost.
I'm more of a morning person nowadays as my body clock has shifted to 3/4am starts. 6am is a lie-in for me.
I don't go to a pub unless its for a meal. Coffee shops are my thing now. If a new Coffee shop opens near me I'll make a point of trying it out to see if its any good.

Mid 40s and still go to various clubs up in central London (Fabric etc). Not for the social so much but to see artists I like or events put on by record labels I rate.

Few times a year I’ll even go to an illegal squat party/warehouse rave just to relive my youth a bit.

Going to normie/local clubs has always been my idea of personal hell though.

Sometimes when the parents visit on Fridays I'll crack a coke zero out with supermarket pizzas and help the kids sing karaoke

I go into town a lot, but mainly for work.

I meet up with friends locally but I don't really drink but we go out nonetheless.

I'm out a lot at the weekends with the kids which I love, but I also do sports which means I end up having no real time for debauchery which suits me fine.

You're social life changes a bit as your priorities change, doesn't mean you're stuck doing nothing it's just different.

I don't wear braces though.

I need this to happen in my life, mid thirties now, can't do forever...

But the quote from St Augustine comes to mind....."Lord make me holy....but not yet!"

It's Friday in the 90s, which means tonight will involve Ben Sherman shirts, 'smart' jeans and school shoes. Lashings of Davidoff Cool Water is absolutely mandatory. Few pints of snakebite down at the local before heading to the club to listen to beeps and booms whilst trying to impress some young women. A snog and a couple of fingers later, they go on their way, and then it's off to get a kebab which will get 100% attention on the walk home.
I did that a lot but I can't say I always enjoyed it. But sometimes it was just great fun. No mobile phones in the 90s. Well not the type you'd spend all night on.

Admittedly, back in my youth when we used to hit the town of a Saturday night, there were no drugs - neither cocaine nor ecstacy - but it was a lot more violent. There was nearly always a fight at some point during the evening & it got so bad there would be a police riot van in the market place at kicking out time.

This was Frome in Somerset, though.

Best avoided so a group of us used to tour the village pubs prior to driving into Bath to go “clubbing” at Neros. Designated driver obviously;-)
