People thoughts on Akasa Zen

Yeh, unlike all cowards I went out and ordered it. :p

No idea on anything bar the OcUK spec, and the pictures linked. Impulse buy as it seems as though it may be a very cool case. Will have half the answers when I get it, then the other half once I have used it a bit. :p

Anything anyone wants to know about it, may not be building a whole system in it although will probably fit the key components to see what building is like.

Got a rig to put in my Sugo Evo you see, 3700SD surprisingly so that will get most of my attention! :D

(Oh and more fans for the S80. :()

After looking at speeds pics, the black just looks the business:)

If they had perhaps added a bit more feature set to it like sound dampening panels/hdd grommets/elastic bay drive id say it would beat Antecs New Solo Case, looks are equaly impressive imo.

The Solo is nothing that got me to excited, its the low price of this, and the obvious Lanboy competition that have gotten me to buy it.

Went with black one I think, can't really remember!

Hope that gives some people a rough idea, will have a play about now.

Its a cheap case, not as good as the Lanboy for build but its the highest quality cheap case I have used so far. Good for the money, Lanboy is a better bet for 50p more. :)

Will add to that once I spend some time with it. Fans look good!

Top man Yewen - you really are a case addict.

Questions.
Where are the front fan inlet vents?
Is perspex edge trim scratch resistant?
When optical drive inserted does missing radius edge look naff?
(just spotted top bay has flip door, maybe)
How is air funnel attached?
Internal width from MoBo to side panel?
And finally are the feet any good or just plastic pegs?

Thats all for now, looking forwards to your full review.

Building up in my Sugo tonight, but depending on what im doing tommorrow I will find out for you.

Only had a brief look at the case, the front plastic is just some decent plastic really, nothing more and the clear bit does look budget in person, but then again I am comparing it next to a v1000+, S80b, Sugo Evo and Eclipse so I would hope it would be worse!

I will find out those things for you hopefully later on. :)

Near silent sugo, mainly because very little in it at the moment, Orb II cooler in the Sugo, about 800rpm and throttles up to keep temp below 41 load. :D

Very pleased so far, just downloading an OS to put onto it now. :)

I liked the Solo's look, the Zen almost equals it - tho Zen reminds me of an iPod...

The price of the Zen is however better.

Same thoughts.. the Zens nice but I think the Solo looks the better looking case+more feature wise!

But the Zensa good looking budget case

Cheers Yewen. Could I ask how it compares to the Lian-Li PC7+?

Not comparable, one was a £100+ case, the other is a £30 case outright.

The stock fans certainly seem to be high quality however on the Zen, but the build quality just is nowhere near a PC7+, I was not expecting it to as this is aimed at a completely different market.

I will hopefully get some more time to look at it tommorrow and maybe try a rig in it, but I may be cheap and just try the fans as I can tell what the case is going to cool like due to its layout, once I work front intakes out.

Good case, nothing special but its one you would build a PC in for a mate. Lanboy for the same money is a better case for build quality, the PC7+ is completely not comparable to this case, although I would go as far as saying the black plastic used on this case is almost as good as the Mirage and Eclipse. :)

No im talking about the cardboard box. :p

About to open it so expect rough pictures up by 5. :)

Ah yes, well "box" can be taken both ways ;). I almost thought you went mad! :D

Personally I think it looks much better than the Super Lanboy, but like you say the Lanboy does have better build quality.

Great pictures by the way, especially the first one, does that come included? ;)

Anyways, onto the case, it does indeed look good, I think the iPod/Mac look is intentional, especially with the white version. Would be interested to know what the front fan intakes are like though, not sure if I missed that but I don't think you've mentioned that.

Antec Solo looks good, but it's double the price, not to mention I'd prefer 120mm fans all round. Are there any other cases to consider at this sort of money with 120mm fans?

Jeantech Phong I, its very similar to the Zen so far and has the same feature list. The Phong II is a lot worse, to many features for the money, and its to expensive.

I have not mentioned the front intake as I have not looked at it, the other cases I got from another source took priority over this one, and I had a Sugo Evo to build up aswell. :)

Will find all these things out tommorrow for people, just give me time I only ordered the case 30 hours ago ish after reading this thread! :o
