Peoples views on VSync

Is Vsync possible in Battlefield 2 ?.....

Theres no ingame option for it, and i have tried setting Vsync to 'Always On' in the Catalyst Control Panel, but i still get Vsync tearing when looking through scoped views (sniper, tanks, AT missiles)...

Is it just a problem with ATI drivers or can you get it with Nvidia drivers?

Vsync works fine when enabled in the nVidia control panel, same can't be said of ATI and the CCC, it will not work if you run Vista or windows 7, works fine in XP though lol.

To enable vsync with games that do not support it in game, you would have download rivatuner and use the DXoverrider software to force vsync in BF2.

BF2 does not support vsync in game and vsync can't be enabled with ATI in vista or windows 7, these are facts, DXoverrider is one way to get vsync functionality.

These are not facts, just things you make up, vsync and triple buffering are only OFFICIALLY ALLOWED options thanks to MS deciding so, for opengl, thats why those two settings mostly only work to force it in opengl games, because thats what MS ask for in their drivers.

It infact DOES work for what they are asked to do, force vsync and trip buffering on opengl. MS don't like drivers over riding or forcing options in DX games, because they are a bunch of Nazi demon whores.

The options work fine for open gl games and the vsync often(if not always the times I've tried it) work in dx games, however DX games are allowed to force settings themselves and thats what drivers aren't allowed to over ride.

Its funny because you were complaining about vsync, and stuttering, and lack of fully using your 480gtx since you got it, and then come into a thread and complain about ATI's crappy vsync options and how perfect Nvidia do it.

Should we link to your thread on how with vsync off you get 70-80fps constant in GTA 4, and if you enable it its stuck at 40-50fps and the gpu won't use more than a certain amount of its power and it won't stick at 60fps.

So, Nvidia card, vsync, problems............ oh well.

Seriously send MS an e-mail and complain that they ask not to have DX over riding features in their drivers, and ask them why they constantly let Nvidia get away with these things but won't let AMD get an WHQL driver without following the exact spec.

Yes, AMD should get a better application made by themselves that works flawlessly and less utterly horribly made than dxoverrider.

This might be made even more funny by you mentioning one of the few games without a vsync option, the one you complained about AMD because it would power down and cause stuttering for you. Of course Nvidia have stuttering issues of their own with BC2, but thats neither here nor there is it.

BF2 does not support vsync in game = fact and vsync can't be enabled with ATI in vista or windows 7, = fact these are facts, DXoverrider is one way to get vsync functionality. = fact

Made up? my post is regarding BF2 if you failed to notice, most games are DX so having vsync functionality for opengl is a bit useless IMO. AMD should just get some balls and hack the driver the way nvidia has.

And yeah vsync on ATI was worse than on nvidia, what with downclocking in games with low GPU usage, stuttered like hell.

Thanks for the suggestion but it doesnt work.....

Installed RT, set Dxoverider value to 1 in power user settings, rebooted, set Vsync to always on in CC, started up RT, minimized it, started up BF2, and.........

Still get screen tearing in any kind of zoomed scope mode....:(

It does work, I had to use it to get vsync in BF2 with my 5870, add the BF2 exe and use the same setting as me below, enabling or disabling vsync in the CCC has no effect.

You don't need to even run rivatuner, go in to the rivatuner start folder in all programs and just run the DXoverrider app.
