The mrs is a fan of G&T's, however we recently went to spain and she had what she claimed was the best one she's ever had.

I believe it was made with Hendricks and Fentimans Tonic along with some lime and mint.
The bar tended (well away from tables) seemed to be pouring the tonic in with some weird swirly metal thing.

Do things like the above actually make a difference? I'm more of a put booze in a glass with ice and nothing else type guy but wouldnt mind making an effort for her

I believe Hendricks is best served with cucumber of all things although I much prefer lemon or lime. I am sure mint added a nice refreshing zing. Often things taste a lot better on holiday when you are nice and relaxed and glad to be miles away from the usual so it isn't always easy to recreate the exact tastes because they can often be influenced by mood, circumstance, etc.

A G&T always tastes better when it's hot (the temperature, not the drink!). I thoroughly enjoyed them after a days work when I was out in India.

I'm not a fan of Hendricks, I've got a bottle and its got to much going on and it has some odd flavours.

Plymouth is my go to gin, its as smooth as you like.

I'm looking to try a bottle of Sipsmith Gin nex, its hand crafted in a little shed in london somewhere.

Completely agree. Every time we have a G&T thread I am always singing the praises of Plymouth Gin. Lovely gin.

I agree fever tree tonic definitely helps a good G+T as much as a nice gin does. You normally only find it in the small bottles, which some people hate. I dont drink it all the time and I hate having a flat tonic so prefer it to buying a large bottle of tonic anyway

Cheers guys, she's not a fan of Gordons gin, she always used to like Bombay Sapphire but recently tried it with Hendricks and was a fan.

Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire, tonic (usually Schweppes) and lime.

The hotter the day, the nicer it tastes!

Last night I had some Sipsmith neat. Delicious in its own right as well as in an awesome G+T.

The mint is a great call, might give that a shot. There's 3l of Bombay Sapphire in the drinks cupboard just waiting for the summer proper to start.

Try Hendricks, slices of cucumber with a couple of slices of fresh ginger and fevertree tonic.

Fentimans tonics is great, but goes best with less floral gins (eg Tanq and Bombay)

I'm another fan of Hendricks here, normally Schweppes tonic i think and definitely with a slice of cucumber. I find it a little more fragrant than some other gins and actually a little less harsh/strong.

I cannot stand G&T and cucumber. I've only had it once and it put me off for life.

Ice cold Bombay Saphire with a dash of tonic is delicious though
