Hi All,

Just become the proud owner of an Audi A6 2.7t quattro, its the 230 Bhp model but apparently its the same twin turbo engine as the S4 and therefore in theory can be uprated to 280Bhp or higher.

I've never had a car chipped or anything so don't know:

a. how much it might cost
b. who to go to
3. if its a good idea, as I don't want to blow anything up!

Opinions, advice please :-)

Thanks in advance,

E-I

I'm sure that the differences between the engine in your car and that of the S4 will extend beyond a simple map.

Hey,

A. For a good remap expect to pay £400+ and £500+ if you want a custom remap (rollers).

B. Best to stick with the bigger companies like Jabba / Apr and the likes. I've got a stage 1 APR remap (might get stage 2 soon ;)) and am very happy with it.

C. Remapping will put more strain on components, but I feel if you go with a trusted company you can't go far wrong. (Cheaper remaps might have stupid boost peaks).

For £499, Superchips will add a stonking 30bhp to your A6. Not really worth it, IMHO.

30bhp is a good gain, over the whole rev range it'll make hell of a difference. Although I should think 30bhp is a little on the low side, especially as it's twin trubo.

Superchips aren't rated either.

Hi Ethos,

Thanks for that, who fitted/ sorted it for you?

its not just 30 bhp it changes the power delivery aswell its worth every penny i payed £300 for 25 bhp, go for a custom remap should see a lot more then 30 bhp

Aparrently with the APR Upgrade i get an increase of 78 Bhp or 33%

Hmmmm now that might well be worth £500!!!

I drove up to performance driving. Was a couple hours drive, but well worth it. The drive on the way back was even more fun! :p

There are LOADS of APR dealers around the UK though. There are a couple of local remappers around here but I just wasn't happy with them. I have a revo like 7 miles away but the guy seemed to have NO idea what he was going on about. (That's not to say REVO are bad remaps though).

LOL

Thats spooky, just been looking at Performace Driven.

Okay thanks for that, think I'll give them a ring..... :-)

That APR upgrade is for an S4 though?

All 2.7T engines apparently, I put appropriate model numbers into the APR site and thats what came out.

If you check the APR site the upgrade is for all 2.7 T engines. Mine may only start with 230 Bhp, but thats just means I get a better gain :-)
