Performance Issues?

So recently guys I've gone and bought a new psu and some more ram, and ever since then, I've been seeing performance issues within my system, hang ups if you will and sometimes I'm not even doing anything intensive.

I was doing some uni essay and bam, hangs for like 2 minutes, it's pathetic.

I upgraded my stock psu and stock ram to the following:

and
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-094-KS

and now my computer is slowly turning into crap.

i've reset the bios to their defaults, but nothing.

any advice?

Did you set the RAM speed, timings and voltage manually or use the XMP profile?

If you used the XMP profile the voltage will likely have been set to 1.65V. Try it at 1.55V and you might even get it down to 1.5V.

If you set it manually make sure you set it at ~1.5V as above.

With Sandy Bridge less is better when it comes to RAM voltage.

I've seen it where someone got loads of blue screens at 1.65V and reducing it to 1.5V got rid of all the problems.

Also you have 12GB in your (too large) sig, is that the new 8GB plus 4GB?

All the RAM you have needs to be able to run at the same speed, timings and voltage.

Edit 1:

Actually, looking at your sig, do you have a Sandy Bridge setup?

Edit 2:

It would appear not.

From your other thread where you asked about the same issue (naughty, naughty):

I have not over-clocked it yet, I do not have all of those parts in my sig, only the ones that are underlined.

I have:
12GB DDR3 @ 1600mhz
1TB HDD
AMD 5770
i5-750 @ 2.7GHz (stock)

I'll reset to factory defaults in the BIOS and then see what happens performance wise.

Please provide the specifications of your other set of RAM, a screenshot of the memory tab in CPU-Z and what the DRAM voltage is in the BIOS.

No BSODS.
Not got an SSD either.

I do not have a sandy bridge set-up, I have not bought some of them parts yet, I'm currently running:

the i5-750 on a intel DP55WB motherboard.

The settings you have in the BIOS are fine for the new RAM apart from tRASmin which should be 27.

You could also try upping the Memory Voltage a touch. The Kingston HyperX Grey usually runs at ~1.5V but it won't hurt to up the voltage to 1.55V to see if that's the issue.

Finally what is the make/model/specification of your old 4GB kit so I can see if it will run at the same settings as the new RAM.

Okies, I'll go and change that in the settings right away!

= my other ram.

I cannot change it to 1.55v, I can change it to 1.6v though, should I go ahead and do that? and great, that's good news.

@Subliminal Aura there are no errors regarding ram, ):

A bit limited on the options there.

If 1.6V is the only option you have above 1.5V then use that and see how you go.

There shouldn't be any problems running both sets of RAM at 1.6V.
