me and a friend are having a bet about something which i won't go into (i have not agreed to it yet but i might do)

if I loose the bet, my friend wants me grow .........a beard (im almost 40, I have never wanted facial fur)

but if I win, I get to drive around in his car for a month ...hehe

anyway, its a weird question for anyone who has facial furr

the thought of having facial furr worries me

Do you actually feel it have any effect in your face, for example does it make it itchy, or does it create aerodynamic drag or anything like that when you walk

only asking because I'm geeting cold feet thinking about the consequences of what could happen here. i just have visions of it being a fire hazard or something

yeah, you will probably never get asked this sort of question ever again

I go through an itchy period if I grow it out, as my facial hair is super curly :p

You’ll wait a trimmer of some sort to keep your moustache at bay and keep it neat and tidy around your neck and cheeks.

Brought to mind when a firm I used to work for hired a new MD, who sported a full, bushy beard.

Turned out to be a right git, and someone mentioned "well I suppose if you look like a ****, you may as well act like one." :D

The only downside is sometimes having to rinse it in a sink when you get curry in it.

that sounds like a massive problem when you are out and about

I go through an itchy period if I grow it out, as my facial hair is super curly

ok, its seems fear is justified

Also it doesnt sound as manly if you call it facial furr.

yeah, its what the other half calls it . point taken

I've had a beard for years now, not even sure what I would look like without one.

When it first starts growing in I suspect you might find it irritating, especially during that phase where it's somewhere between stubble and something actually resembling a beard. Everyone grows their facial hair differently too, yours might come in full bodied or patchy, it might be more or less irritating depending on your skin and other factors. If it comes in patchy don't trim it to try and make it uniform, you'll just make things worse.

As others have mentioned, the main issue is the odd bit of food that might get in it. But that's easily taken care of tbh, a quick brush (depending on length) after a meal is nothing. There's some good cheap grooming kits out there too, I find using oil and a couple of other products helps keep it from going wild as my hair curls otherwise. You can buy clear beard ties too if it gets particularly long in one area, but it depends on the style you aim for.

This isn't a bad read, but be wary of any websites like that which are trying to sell you products. While washing and maintaining your beard is important, you don't want to be sat scrubbing in the shower daily. The general run down and tips are good though, there's some decent youtube videos knocking around that you will probably find helpful.

Before you start growing your beard, get a couple of days growth and use a facial hair remover cream on it.
This will dissolve the sharp cut edges left from shaving and leave you with blunt rounded hair shaft tips.
When you start growing a beard proper, the blunted tips won't itch/irritate your skin.

If you've not grown a beard before then yeah I think you might find it a bit itchy to start with. But you'll get used to it.

Can't believe no-one has asked what car .
