I'm not one to normally indulge in such like floating around the dearth of the internets, but of all people my Mum took it and it was surprisingly accurate, so I decided to give it a whirl too.

I have to say, it's pretty spot on, on all counts.

http://www.ipersonic.com/test.html

My results:

Groundbreaking Thinkers are charming, enthusiastic persons. They really bubble over with energy and like to take centre stage. They love variety both professionally and privately. Groundbreaking Thinkers tackle changes consistently with their optimism and firm belief in their own abilities; they are always on the look-out for improvement possibilities.

Their excellent communication skills are of great advantage to them here. They approach the world with curiosity and openness and master new situations with a great deal of talent for improvising and with resourcefulness. Their spare time is taken up with a large number of hobbies; most Groundbreaking Thinkers like to travel in order to gather as many different impressions as possible. This personality type is unbeatable at discovering new possibilities.

In their work, Groundbreaking Thinkers highly rate challenges and diversified tasks. They cannot stand routine and too detailed work. They love to astound others with bold ideas for an original, new project and then leave it up to the others to implement them. Hierarchies, rules and regulations arouse their opposition and they love outsmarting the system. It is vital to them that they enjoy their work; if this is the case, they quickly become pure workaholics. Their creativity best takes effect when they work independently; but they are very good at motivating others and infecting them with their optimistic nature. Conceptual or advisory activities appeal especially to Groundbreaking Thinkers. It can happen that some people feel somewhat duped by their flexible, spontaneous nature.

Their sociability and enterprise ensure that Groundbreaking Thinkers always have a large circle of friends and acquaintances in which activity plays an important role. As they are mostly in a good mood, they are popular and very welcome guests. Grumbling and peevishness are unknown to them. However, they do tend to be a little erratic and unstable when it comes to obligations and this makes them appear to be unreliable to some. Groundbreaking Thinkers are very critical and demanding when it comes to picking a partner because they look for the ideal relationship and have a very concrete picture of this ideal relationship. Mutual aims in life are very important to them. They do not like compromising and would rather remain alone. For the partner, it is often a challenge to have a long-term relationship with a Groundbreaking Thinker. Groundbreaking Thinkers need a lot of space and diversity or otherwise they become bored and feel cramped. Types who are rather more traditionalistic often have problems with the willingness of Groundbreaking Thinkers to take risks and their often crazy, spontaneous actions. However, if one can summon up sufficient flexibility and tolerance for them, one will never be bored in their presence and will always have a loyal and faithful partner.

What are you and how accurate would you say it was? :D

I think GD's denizens would agree with my outcome:

Engaged Idealists are extroverted and helpful. Others find them to be very congenial and inspiring - especially as they are always willing to see the best in the other person. Their humor, their energy and their optimism attract other people.
Engaged Idealists are very good at communicating and are good at convincing and firing on others. That is why it is a matter of course that they often take over the leading role in groups. This personality type often produces very charismatic persons.

Engaged Idealists have an unusually strong ability to empathize. They are tolerant and generous towards others; they sometimes tend to idealize their friends. They always try to suit everybody and want their relationships to be harmonious and satisfactory. To achieve this, they are prepared to invest a great deal and to put their requirements last. As Engaged Idealists are very considerate, there is the danger of them sacrificing and overexerting themselves for others. In their job, they therefore have to be very careful not to develop a burnout syndrome.

The test is a joke and a boring one for that matter. Far more interesting are the reasons why you (and probably many others) think it's accurate, one of which being self-serving bias: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-serving_bias.

What the test does is to put you in the position where you asses yourself and then it presents the result as if there was some hidden process in the backround which resulted in the assessment. It's the same process that convinces people that horoscopes or fortune tellers work.

The result describes a person who has little/no bad character traits but that is not who you actually are and instead it is, at best, who you aspire to be - often not even that.

Apologies for the reality check.

But it does give bad traits? Can't do repetitive work, bored easily, get other people to do the detailed work. Can be unreliable...

I see your point though, horoscopes make their responses in that way sure, but I found this more accurate to the people I know. I am deeply sorry it caused you so much heartache so early on a Tuesday. :D

Those aren't bad traits. Everyone dislikes repetitive work, can get bored or can be unrealiable.

Have someone you know and hate do the test. I bet you won't find it so accurate in that case. :)

Not a particularly interesting or accurate test, basically it is the simplest version of the myers-briggs that I have ever seen. I find personality types interesting, when meeting new people which is trying to classify them using Myers-Briggs and then seeing if I got it right after a few months. So far I have a fairly good success rate, but the 4 stages in this test are more or less just describing the 4 dichotomies of Myres-Briggs, which in itself is not the be all and end all of personality testing.

I literally cannot progress past step one, half the things from one choice are more true and half the things from the other are more true.

Also, this is the kind of test which is in my opinion completely useless. It asks you what kind of person you are and then basically reads back your answers to you with some kind of congratulatory label like "Groundbreaking Thinker".

The test cannot tell you what kind of personality you have, only the personality you think or wish you had.

If you watch someone you know complete a test like this you may find yourself disagreeing with a lot of their answers.

That's a surprise... have you also noticed how horoscopes are also 'pretty spot on' and yet are supposed to simultaneously apply to millions of people?

Maybe you could go join a special organisation with other people who are also suckers for this sort of thing... perhaps you could make regular cash donations and be persuaded to take courses and progress through different levels etc..

Yeh, I found that on every step. Eventually I got 'Energetic Doer' which doesn't really seem like me.

Individualistic Doers are self-assured and very independent people. They are quiet and realistic, very rational, extremely matter of fact people. They strongly cultivate their individualism and enjoy applying their abilities to new tasks. But they are also very spontaneous and impulsive persons who like to follow their sudden inspirations.

Individualistic Doers are good and precise observers who register everything which goes on around them. However, they are not so sensitive as regards interpersonal relations and are surprised when they occasionally rub someone up the wrong way with their direct and blunt manner. They are not particularly fond of obligations; but if you give them space, they are uncomplicated, sociable and cheerful individuals.

I find these things interesting if only to see which posters have similar personality types, or at least similarly perceived personality types.

Reliable Realists are down-to-earth and responsible-minded. They are precise, reserved and demanding. Their most prominent quality is reliability and they will always make every effort to keep any promise given.

to basic to give a real picture.

Sounds as though you're a Scorpio...

Analytical Thinkers are reserved, quiet persons. They like to get to the bottom of things - curiosity is one of their strongest motives. They want to know what holds the world together deep down inside. They do not really need much more to be happy because they are modest persons. Many mathematicians, philosophers and scientists belong to this type.

Analytical Thinkers loathe contradictions and illogicalness; with their sharp intellect, they quickly and comprehensively grasp patterns, principles and structures. They are particularly interested in the fundamental nature of things and theoretical findings; for them, it is not necessarily a question of translating these into practical acts or in sharing their considerations with others. Analytical Thinkers like to work alone; their ability to concentrate is more marked than that of all other personality types. They are open for and interested in new information.

Analytical Thinkers have little interest in everyday concerns - they are always a little like an “absent-minded professor” whose home and workplace are chaotic and who only concerns himself with banalities such as bodily needs when it becomes absolutely unavoidable. The acknowledgement of their work by others does not play a great role for them; in general, they are quite independent of social relationships and very self-reliant. Analytical Thinkers therefore often give others the impression that they are arrogant or snobby - especially because they do not hesitate to speak their mind with their often harsh (even if justified) criticism and their imperturbable self-confidence. Incompetent contemporaries do not have it easy with them. But whoever succeeds in winning their respect and interest has a witty and very intelligent person to talk to. A partner who amazes one with his excellent powers of observation and his very dry humor.

It takes some time before Analytical Thinkers make friends, but then they are mostly friends for life. They only need very few people around them. Their most important ability is to be a match for them and thus give them inspiration. Constant social obligations quickly get on their nerves; they need a lot of time alone and often withdraw from others. Their partner must respect this and understand that this is not due to the lack of affection. Once they have decided in favour of a person, Analytical Thinkers are loyal and reliable partners. However, one cannot expect romance and effusive expressions of feelings from them and they will definitely forget their wedding anniversary. But they are always up to a night spent with stimulating discussions and a good glass of wine!

In context. For one of these "tests". We used to run them for every candidate we had through the doors, having 50 questions, sent away etc. So, in comparison, for what you get, it is.

I did join a special organisation, it's the one where I'm not such a miserable ****. :D
